Wanting to do a Bridge Swap.

So my Mirage will be here on Friday and I want to swap the bridge out. I loved my Daytona but not the bridge. I don't like the saddles at all. So I would like to swap it out for a bridge with that is made better, has a little more heft to it. Any suggestions?

They also make a version with solid saddles. If you contact that seller, he should be able to get you one for the same price as the bent saddle one. However, if I remember correctly, the Wilky's have some leeway in where you can put the 6 screws (the current ones do anyway, I don't remember if the old ones did). You will have to make sure your screws are precisely spaced or else your only option will be another Wilkinson bridge (unless you want to fill the current mounting holes and screw new ones). In which case you might want to think about the Wilkinson VSV400P

BCRGreg installed a 2 post ABM trem on my black Daytona - awesome.

I love the MannMade vintage style trem on my blue Daytona. But you need lots and lots and lots of patience with the MM process.

On my red Mirage 2 I'm thinking of swapping out the trem bridge as well. Although, I might just get a high quality brass trem block and change the saddles out and not bother using it as tremolo.

I love the possibilities. My wallet and wife hate those possibilities. : )

I had forgotten about the Mannmade trem. I had one on a Mirage II. It was a very nice trem, but I think the base was thicker or something, because there wasn't as much room for pull-up as for the original trem. Also, it's a bit pricier than the other options I mentioned. If you're not limited to a direct replacement, I'd definitely recommend a Gotoh 510TS 2-point trem.

For 6-post, i've heard great things about the Callaham trems, but i've never had a chance to try one. I was considering that for the HSH Mirage Greg did up for me, but we went with the Gotoh 2-post instead. Glad i did. It's a killer trem.

Bubs, thanks for dropping this question as I'm still contemplating what to swap out for the stock Wilky on the Daytona that hits my door today. I have owned a number of Daytonas and a couple other guitars with the Wilkinson and I have come to understand that I hate that bridge for some reason. It must be mostly psychological at this point, but I just can't stand them. I guess it may seem irrational, but there was something I didn't dig....let's see..

Oh yeah! Now it all comes back to me.

I have a Gotoh VS100 with the solid steel parts in my parts drawer, but am a little noided about drilling big holes for the pivot studs in a one-of-a-kind Hamer.

That 6-hole Gotoh looks like the ticket - they always seem to make great stuff, especially at the top of their lines. Thanks again and to Austin and others who chimed in.

Now where is that #$%$&* FedEx dude? :D

Just keep in mind that if it really looks like the bridge in your picture, you might be screwed in terms of the screw placement.

The Mannmade looks like an option but we've all been warned about lead times. I would not want to drill new holes or fill holes in the guitar. More than likely I would change it and block it anyhow. I don't use a trem that much but you never know I guess.

I was worried about the MannMade wait as well. So I emailed him and the bridge I want has has on the shelf. So I think I'll go that way. I wait to recieve the guitar and measure everything before I order one. Thanks for the help and suggestions.
