JohnnyB Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Sux! Calling the Northwestern Posse, calling the Northwestern Posse. Hope you can recover them quickly and intact. I suggest an APB to the used dealers in the area, especially Guitarville, Trading Musician, Emerald City Guitars, and the local pawn shops (you can cover several just by contacting PawnXchange). We'll also need to keep an eye out on Craigslist. I live close to Guitarville. I'll let'em know to watch out for these guits.
analogsystem Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 Thanks guys. Here's some pics: Strat serial no. 3503 (on heel plate) Musicmaster / Mustang has no serial number Police incident number 10-321240 thanks! -Dave
specialk Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Thanks for posting the pics! We'll keep our eyes out. Best of luck on their safe return!
carfish7 Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 That suuucks! I had that very same Strat and they are REALLY fine instruments. Feeling your pain.Hoping for a safe return. We need to have a HFC "loaner" or 2 for just this reason. Something that we can send out to our brothers experiencing losses like this. They are tools for some, and to be deprived of the tools of one's craft via theft is an abomination. The fuckers have some bad Karma coming for sure.Z
analogsystem Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 Thanks guys,I called the local used guitar shops. I tried Pawn Exchange and they said the police would handle it and wouldn't even take my info.I put an ad on CL and am checking in every hour....any other thoughts? The cops didn't seem like they were in any hurry.
Steve Haynie Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 On the subject of stolen CD's, those can be a major pain to lose. Some people I know lost a large collection of southern rock CD's, many of which were out of print. Out of print albums cost a fortune on eBay now. There were more than southern rock CD's, but that was the proud focus of the collection. The local record store was helpful in backing up the claim of how many CD's were in the collection that was stolen. The couple had bought CD's regularly for years. When the thief was caught and sentenced he was ordered to pay restitution way up in the thousands just for the CD's. Think about paying $10 - $15 for new albums at the rate of one or two a week for 20 years. Do the math and you see the real damage. When a friend was putting his property in storage we packed the CD's at the back underneath everything. The reasoning was that a box of 50 CD's could be grabbed quickly and go to a used record store for anywhere from $25 to $100 in immediate cash.
analogsystem Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 Tell me about it.....they only took A-M (I had my cds alphabetized) but it would be at least $1500-2000 to replace them. They'll probably get a buck a piece at a pawn shop. Tons of imported rare black metal, Japanese psych rock, and independent releases from bands I've played with over the years.I am honestly the most bummed about my computer though. It contained all my photos and band stuff for the last 7 years. Also my girlfriend's entire non-profit business was on there. Then there's the guitars.....
Steve Haynie Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 You can let the police and the record shops know what to look out for. If there really are some rarities or just a genre of music that is less common the collection will stand out. Sometimes the person behind the counter can tell when something is hot. If all you get is a description of the people selling the CD's or possibly a tag number when they leave it would be a good lead on who robbed you.
JohnnyB Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 I called and emailed Guitarville, and emailed Trading Musician today about the guitars. I included the URL to this thread so they can see the pics and serial number.
burningyen Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 This kind of thing enrages me. I hope they catch the thieves. Any surveillance video in the neighborhood?
analogsystem Posted September 15, 2010 Author Posted September 15, 2010 Thanks JohnnyB, I called them as well but hopefully they'll really be on the lookout now.Burningyen, no surveillance. I live in a really old house on a busy road. Its surprising that they'd break in in broad daylight like that but according to the cop who came out Seattle has a high burglary rate. I heard from the folks at trading musician that a lot of gear stolen in Seattle ends up in Tacoma or Portland so that makes my search area a lot bigger.
pesocaster Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Coworker of mind had a good chunk of his gear jacked earlier this year (Tacoma area).... most of it ended up in Portland.... I'll pass this amongst my circle... but definitely alert the Portland area shops..... This sucks! Good luck!also check here: http://www.screamingstone.com/
