daytona neck

I have a USA daytona with a maple neck. It is a great instrument, but i am not crazy about the maple neck. Thinking of swapping out the maple for a rosewood or ebony fingerboard neck. Does anyone know if a regular allparts or similar neck would fit?

Hamer's bolt on heel is near as dammit the same as a Strat but check on the length from the nut to the heel, this may not be the same as Fender as i know that Cali's, Diablo's et all are not the same (so although it'll fit, chances are you'd never be able to intonate it).

I seem to recall that they are not compatible. The hamer joint is rounded and the fender squared? vice versa? Anyone remember?

Vice versa....I use a strat guard on my Daytona and had to flatten the curve. Not sure of the dimensions but the shape is more similar to a tele neck than strat.

No, that's Tele's and Strats - Tele's are square and Strat's are rounded and not compatible but Hamer bolt on's are like a Strat and do fit the neck pocket but there is still the issue with nut to heel length.

The Daytonas and T-51s have identical necks. The headstock's contour is just a bit different.

This is a '96 Daytona heel.

I'd be interested in swapping you a rosewood Daytona 'board for your maple (balance of neck included as well, natch')

PM me if interested.

The pocket i don't think will be an issue, you've just got to check the length between the heel and the nut and as long as that matches and it's the same amount of frets and on the same scale and the fingerboards correspond (ie: the same amount of overhang of the fretboard or not as the case is) then you should be good to go.

Note: as i've never had one i'm presuming that the Daytona will be fairly identical to all Strat dimensions - the above is not applicable to Cali's, Chaps, Cents, Diablos and even Vintage S's as these were all built with 24 frets in mind so the actual length from nut to heel is longer so even though they're all 25 1/2" scale if you mix the two it'll never play in tune unless you change the position of the bridge which lets face it, starts getting very messy.

As a visual aid google some 24 fret Strat conversion necks, you'll see that the extra frets are just an overhang of the fretboard and the neck remains the same nut heel length as the 22 fret.

Edit: just went downstairs for a piss and spied a Tele neck template that i got in a mixed lot (WTF do i want with a Tele) and measured that and that's 18 9/16" from nut to heel. Hamer shredder bolt on's (and Nocturne's by a small coincidence) are 19" from nut to heel.

In short, measure your's and verify beforehand with your chosen supplier.

Actually, this by far the best solution :o

Just did a quick eyeball on a tele neck against my Daytona...nut to heel and fret spacing is identical. I didn't take the neck off the Daytona so I didn't confirm screw holes or pocket fit.

I had a pair of Daytonas in '94 that I tried swapping necks on and they wouldn't fit. one was a different size from the other. neck AND pocket.

YMMV as always

Well that's custom made guitars. They are all made slightly different though. :(

Edited to add: I wouldn't be able to securely measure numbers like 1 11/16 or 1 7/8 either. Living/loving metric...
