silentman Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Hubba Bubba! SOunds like things got a little hairy there. Good news
killerteddybear Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 CB, here's how you deal with the ex:New Rule - If there's a hurricane or other potential emergency on the horizon, you collect your son and she can have the custody next weekend!Glad to here you got Austin back.
Guest Mike Lee Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 If she shows judgment that poor when dealing with a potentially life threatening situation, there's no telling what kind of things she might do in the future. Most irresponsible parents don't intend to harm their children, they just do because they are careless.I'm not quite sure of the current custodial situation, but I'd move for sole custody with supervised visitation. The grounds of "reckless endangerment" sounds like a good place to start.Edited to add:It's not about punishing her. It's about protecting your son from her bad judgment.
Brewmaster Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 I had no idea what you were going through and I'm happy to hear you got him back. I can't imagine going through the same thing nor can I predict how I would handle the same sitiuation but it seems like you did everthing right which is no surprise to me. Best wishes Bro!
bobbymack Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 Somebody tell me why I shouldn't bitchslap her off the planet. Rise above CB. You and your son are back together and that's the most important thing of all.She knows what happened and will live with the rest of her life.+1, and yep, rise above. Your son will notice, and draw his own conclusions...
Scottcrud Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 I'm glad Bubba is safe. Mark, just chalk this one up as experiance, you'll know better next time, and I bet there won't be a next time.

Thank God yer son is safe at home again and not showing deep mental scars. When you become a parent, everything else but that really fades into insignficance.
Nuclear Wessel Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 Glad to hear your son is safe! Somebody tell me why I shouldn't bitchslap her off the planet.I'm also for rising above, and looking very closely at what legal steps could be taken to declare her unfit for custody of the boy so he won't find himself in another dagerous situation of her making. And then, if there's another hurricane and she tells you she thinks she can ride it out, don't discourage her.
