Jeff R Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Figured I'd offer it up here too, considering the high quantity of 80s metal heads we have here. Plus I'd like to keep it in the family, so to speak.1988 Jackson USA Dinky, San Dimas, CA neck plate serial no. 612x, with custom-order 95th Fighter Interceptor Squadron fighter plane camouflage graphic finish. The Nuts and Bolts: Dinky maple body and maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. Floyd Rose-license tremolo (non-recessed) and one EMG 81 pickup in bridge position w/master volume knob. The guitar plays and sounds incredible, it has great tonal balance, plenty of fret life and the action can be dialed in stupid low if so desired. Worth noting is this guitar’s rosewood fingerboard – it is one of the most attractive, naturally oiliest, and thickest slabs of rosewood I’ve seen to date on an electric guitar. Don't have the original case, but it will ship in a rectangular molded case that works fine. It will get it to you in one piece (I pack guitars to survive wars). The Graphic Finish: Besides being wild and QUITE EXPENSIVE back in the 80s, this graphic is very rare. I’ve been around San Dimas Charvel and Jackson guitars for over 20 years, and the only version of this graphic I’ve seen was a more primitive version in a graphic paint samples book given to Jackson authorized dealers in the 1980s. The sample book’s version was on a Jackson Firebird guitar owned by Amir Derakh of Rough Cutt. He subsequently refinished the guitar later, making this paint scheme likely even more rare, if not the last remaining example of it. I haven’t seen another. Condition: The usual chips, dings and wear you’d expect from a 17-year-old shredder guitar that’s been gigged. Chips to the graphic and to the black finish on the edge of the body have been touched up very nicely and are barely noticeable from a few feet away. There is a extra screw near the rear strap pin where a previous owner “fixed” a stripped pin by replacing it nearby – I have since repaired the original pin hole and put a pin screw in the second hole to close it up. There are two stray holes on the headstock by the truss rod cover where someone installed either a Floyd nut retainer bar or a Kahler string-locking mechanism. Those holes are not repaired but do not harm the structural integrity of the headstock and are not visible unless you’re looking for them. $750 shipped in the lower 48. I can do PayPal if you wish to spot me the PP fees. I can also supply references (I have plenty, wait, make that a shitload).Pix to follow.
Jeff R Posted September 17, 2005 Author Posted September 17, 2005 Here are some photos... Oh yeah, if you need testimony on how bad ass this guitar plays and sounds, Poe and Kiz will surely chime in about their time spent with it a few weeks ago.
Scottcrud Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Ahhh, which model? does it rhyme with smedley? or stranger?
kizanski Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Ahhh, which model? does it rhyme with smedley? or stranger? Actually, it rhymes with William Perry. That Jackson is one that I would own (were I legally permitted to use a Floyd Rose).
Scottcrud Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Kiz, what the hell are you talking about? Throbbin doesn't make a guitar that rhymes with Refridgerator...
kizanski Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Kiz, what the hell are you talking about? Throbbin doesn't make a guitar that rhymes with Refridgerator... True, but General Electric makes a refrigerator that eats guitar sales.
Jeff R Posted September 18, 2005 Author Posted September 18, 2005 Selling because Katrina decided my fridge needed replacing. My wife decided we needed the refrigerator upgrade, like nobody has. The ultimate fridge...with a price tag that matched. This new fridge should be taking my car keys and filling itself up in the middle of the night. On a positive note, I have the coldest beer I've ever drunk in my life right now.

Is it the one with the LCD tv in the door?
Jeff R Posted September 18, 2005 Author Posted September 18, 2005 Nah, man, we passed on that. Seemed too economy LOL.FYI, give me 15 minutes with coaxial cable and a ladder and I'm watching illegal HBO filtered through this bastard's icemaker.
Scottcrud Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 so your not getting a new guitar that rhymes with Throbbin?
Jeff R Posted September 18, 2005 Author Posted September 18, 2005 I already have a guitar that rhymes with "throbbin'" The Jackson sell has nothing to do with it.
BCR Greg Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 The compressor of the Fridge will be throbbin' to keep all that energy turned into cold...
edgar_allan_poe Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 That Jackson is absolutely bad ass. If JeffR is selling it, then that fridge must give you head while you get water, 'cuz that guitar was his baby.
Jeff R Posted September 18, 2005 Author Posted September 18, 2005 Yeah, if it doesn't sell I don't mind keeping it at all. If I have to, I'll just cinch the belt in another way - by turning off the A/C for a couple of months. Shit, the new fridge will comfortably sleep a family of six LOL!
