crunchee Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 I dunno, but the ratio of quilted to flamed maple sounds about right, about 1 out of 10, maybe less. I think it just depends on what Hamer had available on any given day, rather than 'let's make a run of quilted tops'. I once had a Special FM with a quilted top, but I never really bonded with it...partially because the previous owner smoked like a house on fire.
FrankieIII Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 I will tell ya, but only after you post a pic of it....
shesky Posted November 20, 2011 Author Posted November 20, 2011 Trying to get her wired back up to spec but I think the preamp is dead. A few shots.
sw686blue Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 I don't know how many they've made, but I know that I want it!!
crunchee Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 I don't know how many they've made, but I know that I want it!!Oh yeah! I forgot that with the shredders, Hamer didn't just do maple tops, they often did the whole guitar out of maple!
FrankieIII Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Holy quilt Batman! That guitar can't be fixed so you should sell it to me!My best guess is that Hamer did 5% or less per year of their production (for models with a maple top) in quilt. And even less for models that had the solid quilted maple body option.Frank
hamer_sunburst Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 That yellow guitar is a just a piece of junk mate, you can send it my way and I would gladly dispose of it for ya
hamer_sunburst Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 I kind of still don't understand why the market STILL hasn't picked up on Hamer prices.... are people blind, unmusical or just ignorant and dumb. Oh well, I guess they just look mainly at the logo on the head stock. If it doesn't say Gibbon or Femdor, than it's a copy

Oh well, I guess they just look mainly at the logo on the head stock. If it doesn't say Gibbon or Femdor, than it's a copy I said the same thing fifteen years ago, when I bought my first USA Hamer. The only thing I know for sure (besides good 'ol Hamer quality) is that there's NO accounting for taste.
shesky Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 Update, preamp is dead, getting wired back up to passive. It will unfortunately be put up for sale. It won't be cheap but I will offer it up here for a couple hundred less than ebay. Thanks for all the input and kind words!shesky
