mattb Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Jesus. What a nice collection. The prices are nuts though.-MattB
Mike_C Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 The prices are nuts though. NOt really considering that most of the Hamers offered are one off ultimate custom orders. My only regret is that I don't have the means to get one of those beauties for myself. Did anyone notice the bargain of the group the Korina Vector?
unfun 75 Posted September 25, 2005 Author Posted September 25, 2005 I actually thought the McNaught had the most reasonable price, considering its a prototype. Those Hamers are insane, no doubt. More like museum pieces.
hardheartedbill Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 hmmm, I thought the vector lived in Alaska now, maybe it's another one or just got lumped in by mistake ( a RARE occurance I'm sure )
Jason01 Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 "This guitar is not one of the Designer Gallery guitars but it a stunning piece of craftsmanshp regardless"I'm sorry, but to go through all that explaining how great the designer gallery guitars are and then to say sorry, this isn't one of them is just friggin stupid. Nice guitars but I wouldn't buy a guitar pick from someone with those sales tactics.
Luke Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 This guitar is not one of the Designer Gallery guitars but it a stunning piece of craftsmanshp regardless. After explaining the designer gallery to you in detail, he throws in the above quote. So I have to ask, if it is not part of the collection, why is it part of the wording of the advertisement?
cmatthes Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Those are exquisite instruments, but the seller's EBAY lister is effectively killing any legitimate interest by his overbearing and BS sales technique. The ridiculous shipping prices also will kill it for 99+% of the buyers - at those prices, keep it reasonable or include shipping. It looks painfully like US Oil Company-esque Price Gouging at that point.Sorry - I don't think the initial prices are too far off-base, but they aren't far enough off of what a new, similar custom order for the same piece would be WITH a warranty, which is void at this point because any owner would be a second-hand purchaser.I think the harping on the "Designer Gallery" status as being solely responsible for Hamer's success is absolutely asinine - especially on a used Eclipse or a regular Korina Vector (that costs hundreds more at the listed price than anybody here could order a new one for if you factor in his shipping charges). Agreed that those are beautiful, unique instruments, but that guy isn't doing Steve any favors in my opinion.
Hamer95USA Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Hey guys, Great looking guitars. I love the woodwork that Hamer USA did on them, but I have to agree with CMatthes that the price, shipping and the advertising won't attract any buyers. Nice collection of guitars though. Guitar George

I would just order a new custom of my own for those prices. They are beauties though.-MattB
serial Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 No doubt that they are stunners, but agreed that the shipping is reason enough to look elsewhere. C'mon-$80-200 to ship to the Lower 48?
phoenix Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 I hope to do ads that are brief for some of the Designers Gallery pieces in a week or so when I find out my new email. just the facts. low $3,000's up to 4k. Shipping Included. all original except frets, and one repaired factory blemish. ALL rip hard and show off Hamer construction. Even with lots of extras thrown in the retail was high for the models. 30% from retail, minus another 35% gives the price ranges above. I think it would be hard to order new and do better.Working with the Hamer guys on a custom order is an awesome and rare treat so ordering new will always be a ton more fun. steve If someone really needs to reach me in the interim or my emails are banjaxed again, 828 697 1861 see you in oct.12, Standard, Elite, Superpro.
cmatthes Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Steve - that is DEFINITELY the way to do it! Those guitars are "ne plus ultra" (pretty bitchin'), and should appreciate over time.
phoenix Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Thanks Chris. Sort of have to take your shots on the bay also to cover fees. Wish I could be more responsive now so it isnt just a carrot but ...closing, move, new co., etc this week... Family tradgedies aside, and keeping my thoughts in the Bayou, this move wasnt supposed to happen for a year, but it is the best thing for my daughter and she makes this sale painless. Love to see them go to friends. (Truthfully I'd rather win the lottery and keep them.) Superpro $4200. 12 string $4100, Elite $3500, Standard (signed cc) $3300. Bought the best I can do now including shipping. All come with lots of Seymour hand-signed pickup measurement docs. I will include the original contracts and bills so you can check my discounts. Beach is $1900, as is the Newport. The newport was upgraded to ultimate pu's and wiring at the factory. (Dont forget about my doubleneck, 89 Elite FMB, relic'd 59 reissue, amps etc. Chris.) Doug's hyper-punctuation dragged me into this post before I was ready. I have good feedback on the bay as pnxlndco, and posts on the web as both steve and phoenix.
serial Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Single piece korina is pretty tough to find a nice piece of for a big guitar like a Standard. What's the story with the Beach guitar?
