Recommend a speaker for a 4 X 10" setup?

I'm looking for a recommendation for a 8 Ohm, 10" speaker type to go into a Fender Silverface Super Reverb that I'm thinking of getting. The current speakers are pretty much shot (not sure what brand, nothing special though), so I'm looking for a ceramic magnet 10" speaker that sounds good but won't break the bank. I might also have a line on a quad of used but good condition Eminence-made Fender 'blue frame' Alnico 10s (the same type that they used to use in the Fender Tweed Bassman RI, before they switched to Italian-made Jensen RIs), are they any good or would it be better to get something else? Thanks in advance! :)

Inexpensive decent sounding speakers, Jensen MOD series, celestion tube 10. Not what I would call vintage style replacements, but they would get the job done for reasonable money and sound fine.

I have a friend that has is Silverface loaded with Eminence Ragin Cajun they sounded way better than the stock speakers. Its hard to get IMHO a 10 to make all that open space back there to retain a bit of low end. It does it nicely.

Look into the hemp coned eminence lil buddy speakers, super efficient, nice tight low end, smooth highs that don't pierce at all, and relatively inexpensive. Although the alnico 10s you mention might also be just the ticket. Better yet, a mix of both would be perfect, love the way ceramic and alnico mix.

I usually use Hemp Speakers but I haven't use any 10's because its not my speaker of choice. I will say that they are HARD to Kill and they smooth out the top end and have a nice low Punch.

I sold Carfish my Dr Z Z10 speaker......I wish I had it back. The only thing I like nearly as well are a pair of Weber Blue Pups....

But for a Super, stick with Jensen or clones..the ri Jensen p10r alnicos sound great. Also checkout Webers 10" vintage series...fine speakers you cannot go wrong with.

Lastly , Emi 105s get great reviews, though I have never used them personally.

If you want to lower the final weight, I am liking the 10" Jensen NEO-10-100 speakers in my new Samamp Vac40. Great bass response and even treble. I know a lot of people don't like the idea of Neo speakers, but they perform very well and boy are they light! The Samamp is a Blackface type clone and the speakers fit the Fender sound very well.
