velorush Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Awesome work and a great end result! Good to know full-sized pots will work in the stock routes, too. Lots of useful information there.I did have a practical question though: how long with the brass saddles hold up with the Bigsby?
anotherfreak Posted February 10, 2013 Author Posted February 10, 2013 The saddles seem to be holding up just fine, I was worried about the strings cutting deeper and deeper in the soft brass, so I polished the crap out of the slots and taught him to use chap stick with his string changes.
BadgerDave Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Really interesting and well written article, to say nothing of the brilliant guitar work!I've been surprised a couple of times by the quality of Squire models I've picked up at stores. Nice necks, good unplugged resonance, and solid construction. There was a Jazzmaster shaped model with Tele hardware that was particularly well done. I believe it was priced around $200.00!
anotherfreak Posted February 12, 2013 Author Posted February 12, 2013 Thanks! personally I would never use the word Guru, it kinda leaves a bad taste in my mouth and my article was edited from my descriptive first person narrative. This was a fun project to be involved with. it really makes me jealous of the guitars available to the kids today when I see these sub $300 guitars, I can't imagine what the working conditions have to be to pull it off. on the plus side I did get to check out a couple of the Novac pickups while he was deciding what he wanted to go with and they were very nice!
zzzdat Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 I love Premier Guitar, I've had a subscription for years. one of the few mags I respect and cant't wait to read every month.Man, you are a star.I read that article and the guitar turned out looking great.Cool BeansGene
elduave Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Congrats! Can you share how you hooked up with them, and compensation details (without numbers if you wish)? I often wonder if I'd be able to get published in a rock mag and how the hell you go about it...
