KISS podcast Pod of Thunder: starring yours truly

Kiss bought a new Arena football team in LA and have a new......Reality Show! I dislike reality shows, and usually the people that they attract ha ha

So either one of two things happened, I see no midfield:

1. Kiss (Gene,Paul) bought a Arena football team for an investment and or because of a passion for the sport. A Cable channel found out, approached them about making it into a reality TV Show.

2. Kiss bought a team specifically to have a new reality TV show. So they go hand in hand.

FWIW, I saw Ace Saturday night (excellent show, although he started late). He did play "Strange Ways", and similar to the discussion on the podcast a few eps ago, his solo was not a recreation of what was on the record, although it followed the feel and format of the recorded solo - a bit of a more traditional solo followed by more of a noise solo.

And Ace played about 8 Kiss songs or so, and played them better than Kiss has been lately, IMO. Ace isn't slowing the songs down like Kiss is (which they blamed on Peter), and he's playing them with a fire that Kiss doesn't always seem to summon. And Ace's voice has held up (although, in fairness, it doesn't have far to fall). Best line of the night was after "Detroit Rock City", when Ace turned to the drummer and said, "Damn, Scottie, you sing that better than Paul Stanley does now!"

BadgerDave and I are seeing him next Saturday. I was pleased to discover that Cult bassist Chris Wyse is in Ace's touring band.

The band is playing well. Richie Scarlett is back in the band. Apparently, so is his 80s wardrobe. I don't know how guys can play guitar with those gloves on.

Over/under line on number of females at the show: 8.5

I'll take the over. I think there were 9 at the King Crimson show.

Yeah, but 5 of them thought they were going to Medieval Times.

Chris - great summary on the Ace stuff. I'd never really given it much thought, but you're right about the support side of things. Gene & Paul seem to surround themselves with an organization that gets things done, and that's an area where Ace definitely falls short. I think he's playing as well as Kiss is - perhaps even better - but the organization to make things happen just isn't there.

Gotta say, Chris - I'm still digging this every week. Just finished 87 on my way back to hel...I mean, work, today. What's been fun for me is getting a different perspective on the songs I'm not fond of. Like just about everything from Crazy Nights, which I think is the only Kiss album I've bought and then sold and not replaced. (I never did buy Hot In The Shade.)
