1980 Special - price?

I found this 1980 Special, serial 0 1608 - seller wants 650€ (850$) All original except for the tuners. Has been changed to Grovers. Comes with OHSC. Some dings, scratches etc. What do you think?

If I got the book (THE BOOK!) right the Special startet with 1201. That makes this guitar the seventh (son of the seventh... ;-)) regular Special ever, right?

1608 - 1201 (you mean Daniel the 407th..) or did I wrongly compute but there maybe were some Sunburst in between...

I wrote the guys, it took them about a week to answer... Thats what they wrote:

"thank you for your mail regarding Hammer SB 1980

we still have it for sale but unfortunately neck heel is repaired

please let me know if you have any question"

I am out of the game anyway, but that is a deal breaker IMHO since you still have the risk of shipping...

Ah...that explains why it's been sitting so long. Makes sense, at $550 the deal was too good to be true.

Is the guitar with the neck heel repair the 1981 Special in Toronto, or a 1980 Sunburst as specified in the posted response?

I need to check the serial number of my '81. It doesn't have checkerboard.
