Montelovesco

Question

Recommended Posts

I know the same (more or less as it was with Seth Lover pickup) in San Diego for 650 USD.

and I found yesterday an 80 Sunburst for around 800 USD.....Argh....Daniel, shall I share it with you ? ;)

So I would say good but not impossible to find.....

I am not a Special specialist...

For the japanese, they offer a delivery service (customs and fees on yours in addition) and you can mail them in english (you can do it in german but I am not so sure of the result :) )

Anyway, the Special if from Germany is a good thing cause you do not have to take the risk for transportation/customs

The Sunburst from Japan is a Must but I shall try once to use my link with our crew staff for bringing back some goods (specially when the goods are so hamer good)

I just wanted to share with you Daniel, if you ve got the 650 EUR, I would maybe try the Sunburst one....but I am not you :)

I found this 1980 Special, serial 0 1608 - seller wants 650€ (850$) All original except for the tuners. Has been changed to Grovers. Comes with OHSC. Some dings, scratches etc. What do you think?

Looks like the bridge pickup and pickup mounting rings have been changed. Still a very good deal at that price! Great top on that one.

As others have said, bridge pickup, rings... all that and the tuners could be put back to original spec. To me the real story is, at least from what I can see, the visible part of the guitar is immaculate as is that case!

There should be a rule that if you post up a bargain (like the first item here) but you don't buy it after being freely advised to do so, (repeatedly) you have to post a link to the seller.

For sub £600.00 I'd be on that like a shot.

Buy it and if you don't like it there will be a few here waiting to take it off you (for the same price of course).

Do it Monty, do it now.

Excuse my ignorance but if this is a 80 special shouldn't it have the old stadium Hamer logo the one that say's Special under Hamer at least my old one did?

I would ask for a picture of the serial number just to confirm that it is 1980.

Making up last details about shipping and stuff - so the deal is done. Thanks a lot for all the help.

Will let you know when she's here. And what I need if there is any need of restauration/original parts. Serial is 0 1608.

@RichRS6: Was that a DIBS? :-)

Concerning the suggested rule: Totally agreed, and that is exactly what I would have done (and what I usually do, as everybody else here) if I would have passed on that one.

BTW, and that is not totally serious: If we make up such a rule shouldn't there be a time limit, e.g. you have to post the link to the seller, say, 36 hours after the opening of the thread?

You're trying to use the "all 19xx's were exactly the same" logic with Hamer.......haven't you learned better by now?

Here's the headstock of my old 80 Special

And here's [later that year] 0 2166:
