My Marshall Bluesbreaker for a JCM800 2203 RI...a fair trade?

My Bluesbreaker sounds incredible but is just too damn heavy and bulky so I am trying to sell it to have a blonde Bassman 6g6b head clone built....problem is, I am having trouble getting it sold so....

A guy wants to trade me straight across a JCM 800 2203 10 watt reissue head with a 1936 2x12 cab.

Is this a good trade? It seems to be in the same excellent condition as my Marshall...what do you think?

I will give the JCM a fair workout, but my idea is to sell it so I can get my Blonde Bassman.

Is this a fair deal

What's the year of Mfr. of your BB?

Did you decide to keep the BB?

I would definitely be keeping that one if I were him!

I'm pretty sure the BB chassis is a little longer than the JTM's. It won't fit in a JTM headbox properly in any case, even if it is the same chassis, because the panel opening won't be wide enough (BB has the trem speed and intensity controls).

Good point...It'd be best to take the measurements needed to the cab builder before buying. If they already make a JTM head cabinet, it shouldn't be a big deal to alter the openings. Hopefully the chassis size itself is no different than a JTM, it's always best to get full measurements of the chassis first.

Oh, my BB is a great one.....I most certainly will not trade it for the JCM 800. It is a 2003 in excellent condition FrankieIII.

I will likely have a custom head cab made, but something about separating the chassis from the cab doesn't set well with me. I will likely get over that, but if I get a fair offer for the combo, I may let it go.

Think of it this way...you're just giving the amp a change of clothes, more or less. It doesn't change the amp chassis at all. Or shouldn't...just don't have somebody go drilling extra holes in it, that's what wood cabinets are for! Just make sure that you store the empty BB cabinet neatly in the closet, when/if you want to change back.

I have decided to throw the Red Fang alnicos back in the Marshall and gig the hell out of it. I have several Mullards for the preamp and rectifier too. I played it today and was once agin blown away with the volume on just 2-3..... Clean and jangly with my Artist.

It is a PIta to move! but it is worth it for the tone.

There are no short cuts to get the Ultimate Tone. You have to sweat, cry and swear - but it's always worth it! :D
