Jimbilly Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 I just wanted something to play around with, it's a Yamaha mt4x, nice digital readout, the old tag from the overpriced music store it originally came from says $599! $30 incl tax at the pawn shop, pretty hard to pass up. I have no intention of using it seriously, and my little boy will have fun hearing his voice and probably playing with it in future years. Anybody still use a 4 track cassette recorder?
KeyOfZ Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 Hey Jimbilly, I have the same recorder, I haven't used it in a few years (since I started using my PC) but I remember it being a solid unit. As long as you use quality tapes you should be having some fun In the end it may make you want more tracks though.
pesocaster Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 I have a killer Fostex .... that I've had for about 10 years..... makes some damn fine demos....
Smakutus Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 I have a old 1987 Clarion 4 track and we used to to record bass, guitar and drums live on two tracks and then use the other two for bouncing vocals, and doing leads etc.. That was some of the best times I have had in music. We didn't drink, we'd just jam a bit, decide to play "this" or "that" song and go right into recording it. We'dthen have to go find a recording to get the words for the songs.. <g>Now I have a Roland 16 track and you'd think I'd never run out of tracks when I record but I always do.. <g>out..Jeff.
Jeff R Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 Decent jamboxes cost twice that much. Excellent score!
serial Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 I still use my old Tascam 4 track analog for recording rehearsal tapes. Gets the job done, but the goal isn't to get super clean recordings.
DaveL Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 wow, nice deal. I still say you can get nice soundsfrom those cassette 4 tracks...
robbie Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 I still have a Tascam 4 track that I use all the time. I use it to record ideas mostly drum machine and scratch track/vocal guitar. If I like the idea after I'm done I dump it into my computer for futher frankensteining. Its also nice to have a mobil recorder (mine can record 4 tracks at a time). Good score!!
