serial Posted December 30, 2014 Author Posted December 30, 2014 That guitar never left the factory like that...I got it 15 -16 years after it left the factory. Let's just say no one had ever played a note on it because it never had strings on it.Case plug.

cmatthes Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Hamer sent a SS-1 to a Canadian case manufacturer to make a template for that model (they switched from the original mfr., apparently). The guitar had been painted, but for whatever reason - flaw, overstock, whatever, it was pulled off the line and sent as a "Case Plug" or "Form".It never had a single screw turned on it, nor any hardware installed.Steve snagged a few of those on eBay when buying cases on eBay years ago. He sold it as he got it, I don't know...7-8 years ago maybe?
serial Posted December 30, 2014 Author Posted December 30, 2014 I bought a few Hamer cases from a case manufacturer in Canada a decade or so ago and one had an unfinished Hamer body and neck in it. I asked the seller if they had more and they sold me this one-body and neck (fretted), body finished, logo'd and serialed, but never assembled-it literally didn't even have screw holes (probably why no backplate). Someone did a great job of putting the correct parts on it, but it was one of those pieces that Hamer sent up to fit cases.
Studio Custom Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Interesting. Given that and the condition, I thinking the value is half the asking price. Hence it sits.
mc2 Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Love the color.Someone did a nice job completing the guitar, if it left the factory just as a painted body.BUT....sure is ironic that a Hamer that left the factory and spent most of its life as a "case plug"....HAS NO HAMER CASE?!?!?!
