Disturber Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 What should I get? A Rangemaster clone that does not break the bank, but could rival this one:http://www.analogman.com/beano.htm
Jakeboy Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 I have a used Diaz Texas Ranger heading my way.....i am trading some used tubes for it.I will give a report once it arrives and I crank it through my tweeds, Browns, and blondes.....
gorch Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 This was a good clip. I really like the sound of the Ron Wood Treble Booster here. And he's one of my favourite players, so it's gotta be good then. LOVE his tone! BSM treble boosters are great. At least, I love them.
Jakeboy Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 The Texas Ranger is here and I cranked it through a tweed Champ and LOVE it! Much quieter than any TB I have ever used and it is rude indeed! It is the sound of 70s Classic Rock. I really like the fact that it isn't quite as nasal, cocked-wah sounding as every other TB I have used. Cleans up well with the guitar volume knob too. A winner.
soli'd Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 The mad professor red ruby booster is really nice for rangemaster sounds, clean boost, mid boost, etc.. the controls are a bit unique but it's a good Swiss army booster for about $100 used.
Jakeboy Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Old thread, but I gotta say that I had Richard at Monsterpiece build me his Monster Drive.., a treble booster that is a clone of a Rangemaster with also a mid-boost option. i ran it through my Marshall JMP and love it. It is a different TB flavor than my Diaz but I am digging it. Great pedal from a great builder. My 1980 Special loves it.
gtone Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Good to know! Kinda wish I hadn't let go of my Beano Boost - was the best TB I've tried yet...

I LOVE Andy Powell's tone on Argus especially, and have been thinking of the BSM for a while. However for $300 (!) that's too much to spring since I haven't had a treble booster before, would the Beano be able to ape it well enough and be versatile?
Jakeboy Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 I haven't tried the Beano but I am sure any quality Rangemaster clone will get you there.

Wish I still had mine but it was signed by Cesar on the inside and someone made me an offer for it I couldn't refuse.
Disturber Posted February 7, 2016 Author Posted February 7, 2016 Got a Treble Boost coming in from Jakeboy. This will be interesting. Tone report coming up.
Jakeboy Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Use a carbon battery to power this or any treble booster.....I just makes a difference though I cannot explain why...

I had plans to use something nuclear and extremely powerful. I have to change my plans. Shit happens.
Jakeboy Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 TBs do give you already cranked tube amp nuclear tone....just brings the zip and sizzle.
