stonge Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 The boomers are starting to cash out, and I think that combined with folks being gunshy after the last recession is going to lead to lower prices and a glut of gear on the market. Spending habits are definitely changing, which bodes poorly for an economy based on the premise of ever-increasing consumer spending imho.

Nathan is very trustworthy, easy-going guy that made this a very enjoyable/worry-free purchase & I would not hesitate to buy from him again in a heartbeat... the guitar was packed well, insured & arrived quickly... now should we talk about the guitar? This thing absolutely kicks major ass!.. the combination of woods/craftsmanship/pickup placement makes this guitar sound incredibly tone~full... & wanna talk about an incredibly fast neck!.. Yeesh!
DBraz Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Awesome. Every Virt is special in my opinion. A lot of love went into building these.

No doubt about it... for a guitar with just one pickup and one volume, a lot of attention to detail went into this... placing the Hot Rail pickup apprx. 3/4" from the trem "sweet spot" gives it an awesome tone... & the neck is the star with its slimish "D" contoured scalloped maple fretboard, this thing plays like fricking butter, not to mention it's very well-balanced/comfortable with a great feel that you can play for hours without fatigue... very special indeed... but I will also admit, it's not for everyone, I'm really into heavy metal and this is absolutely the perfect guitar for me!... craftsmanship second to none!.. I'm a huge fan!
DBraz Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Now stop playing it for ten minutes and get some decent pictures of it in the Virt thread! I love my Virt. My most played guitar these days with my Cali Custom. Rolling off the volume cleans it up really nicely and its sooooo responsive. I don't know how you feel but I find the single hot rails pickup is more than enough.

Exactly & the placement of the pickup was ingenious!.. finding one's "tone" 1st starts with a guitar that sounds great to begin with~ and although I realize that I'm still in the honeymoon period, I have a feeling this will be a main guitar~

It's just there, perfectly placed, ready to shred. Very rewarding to a light touch and subtle bends. Proper photos please - in some daylight outside of the coffin!
Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 It sounds like it won't get moved again for a long time, if ever. It just needed to get to the *right* person.

mc2 Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 I've had four Virts and live by the water......and went thru Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Sandy. I know they are the best guitar model to grab when the water levels rise.

mc2 Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Yeah....the black one is #10 of the original ten numbered Virts made. All of those were the hardtails and made from old korina. My korina one is actually my fave. Predates the original run of ten, so I guess a prototype. Matches the other early one I've seen that, I think, Paul Hamer owns. ....except some ASSHOLE hacked off the upper frets!!!! Been meaning to have that fixed...but I LOVE this guitar. The scallops on the korina one are deeper than all the other Virts I've had or seen. Dot inlays are also different than the later ones.
