Brooks Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 well it finally happened to me. thankfully its less than $25.seller won't return my calls/emails.edited to add: i paid w/ a check, so paypal/credit card options are out.seller is no longer registered w/ ebay, so neg feedback is moot.he is in newark ohio, anyone here wanna harass him locally for me?if so, email me, thanx.
Armitage Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 Let your bank know, you never know... maybe let the cops know too.
AdmiralB Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 Newark is very close to Columbus. Isn't half the HFC from Columbus?Send Paults, Tonedaddy, and Cary over.
DavidE Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 "Nerk" is about an hour (less?) from Columbus. At today's prices, it would take $25 in gas to go there and back. :-(

jerseydrew Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 Send us the link from the auction. Perhaps one of us might recognize the name. A lot of times these guys have multiple ebay ids. You never know.
paults Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 If your bank charges less than $25 to stop payment on the check, that will probably get you the best result. If several people were ripped off, the seller probably isn't returning phone calls in general.
Brooks Posted March 21, 2005 Author Posted March 21, 2005 ok, i read his old feedback, seems he's notoriusly slow to ship. i sent check 2-18, say it took til 2-22 to get there, since it was a check he coulda held it til 3-4, then maybe slackass waited til the weekend of fri 3-8 to ship...i dunno, it should still be here by now.sniff, i feel violated...
DaveL Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 It's possible that the seller takes acouple weeks to process the order. I've dealt with a couple dvd sellersand it took maybe 14-21 days to get my item. I got the vibe from his feedback he was slow. The price was right and it was hard to find so I dealt with it... I'd keep calling emailing though...
Brooks Posted March 25, 2005 Author Posted March 25, 2005 UPDATE (warning: long and boring);i called the local police, then emailed all the details. today i got this email from the detective:------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Mr. Kaplan: Thank you for your response. As is rule we general do not getinvolved in civil matters that deal with the contractual agreement betweento parties. Small claims is the method by which these issues are resolved. However I am intrigued by some of the information you have provided.I have spoken with a person at the residence you provide. His name wasAlbert Sutphin. He advised that he was an "agent" for a Mr. Webster fromOctober through just recently. He stated that Mr. Webster never was theprovided address and that this was a company that he was paid in cash forhis work and the had only met the owner (Mr. Webster) on a couple ofoccassions. Mr. Sutphin stated that Mr. Webster's account with Ebay had beenclosed due to problems. Further he stated that he thought Mr. Webster was inSan Antonio. My question to you is did you speak to a subject that identifiedhimself as "Mr. Webster" during to phone conversations. Secondly Mr.Sutphin stated he had been also left in a lurch as the alleged Mr. Webster,(whom Mr.Sutphin had to think for an inordinate amount of time to evenprovide a first name) still owed him money. He added that he hadmerchandise belonging to Mr. Webster and if he knew what it was that you didnot receive he may very well be able to supply the items in question. Needless to say, I first of all question if there truly is a "Mr.Webster." Mr. Stuphin was not exactly willing to provide much information.Secondly, you can bet that I am going to make sure that Mr. Sutphin'sbusiness is reported to the interest tax and zoning authorities. I will pursue a couple of avenues along those lines. As I haveexplained I have had a conversation with Mr. Sutphin and he seems trulyinterested in resolving the issue amicably. I will be in touch.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"SCREAMING, SCREAMING FOR VENGENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"edit: weeks ago when i called the # and the guy answered, i said "hey webster", and he answered "yeah?". as wyldbil would say, "i smell baloney frying!!"
MCChris Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 Mr. Kaplan: Thank you for your response. As is rule we general do not getinvolved in civil matters that deal with the contractual agreement between two parties. Small claims is the method by which these issues are resolved. Some detectives would have stopped right there and been done with it. Good on him for delving more deeply into it.
Craig Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 Cool. As far as your $25, chalk it up to getting screwed and move on. It's not worth your aggrivation.
