santellavision Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 Just picked up the new Orange Rocker 32 amp. Gotta' tell ya, it's awesome. Go check one out. Sounds great in many ways. It's STEREO!!! One Pre-amp and two 15 watt Power amps for 30 watts total. The Pre-amp has two channels. The clean channel is absolutely amazing. Really transparent with no tone controls, just (in hi-fi lingo) a straight wire with gain. Guitars really sound articulate, all the tone of your guitars comes through. The Dirty channel is also sweet. Tons of gain and tone - I've never owned an Orange, but it rocks. Different than Marshall, its own thing - Love it. Now, the fun part. Plug in a stereo delay, chorus, Rotary etc in the EFX loop return and it comes out of the 2-10" speakers in stereo. H-U-G-E (No political pun meant) Super-wide. And if you want to go farther, plug a separate cab in and spread it out even more. I took it practice last night and everyone thought it sounded awesome. Solidly built, nice fit and finish. 1/2 power switch for lower volume. And... I think a killer price for all this. Just go play one, you'll dig it! Ernie
DeVai Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 I got one last week. Super transparent clean channel, nice. Dirty channel I haven't found my sound yet. The Orange sound is deffinately unique. This amp is 10 times better than the Crush 60 I have. I guess I don't understand tube amps.An awful lot of volume for just 30 watts. Thanks for the post. Wayne
hamerhead Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 Damn Ernie, you always get the cool stuff. I mean, it's no SuperChamp but it's pretty sweet. Congrats!
santellavision Posted February 7, 2017 Author Posted February 7, 2017 DeVai, I found that it sounds it's best at full power and the OD channel master at near full volume. You can back off your guitar vol and work it that way. The clean channel is just a single control - Volume, thus, the sweet transparency.
RobB Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 Nice-looking amp, Ernie. Save the original box/packing!
santellavision Posted February 13, 2017 Author Posted February 13, 2017 The Clean channel can get pretty loud and stay clean. It's 30 watts of EL34 clean which is not pushing the EL34's that hard. Plenty clean in a band setting. It's a really great sounding clean as I have mentioned above. Straight signal path, no tone (I haven't missed not having tone controls at all!) It's fat and warm.
jettster Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 I had a Rocker 30 1x12 combo for several years when they first came out. Back when they were made in England, even the Celestion speaker. Kick ass little amp, similar to a Marshall with a different mid frequency focus. The control setup was almost identical, clean channel was surprisingly good even with only a volume and no tone. The only things I didn't like about it was no effects loop (Sounds like that's been corrected). Also the fact that it got a little mushy with higher gain settings and lost some of the tightness.
currypowder Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 I've had an Orange Dual Terror head and 1x12 cabinet for years. It remains or of my all time faves with the channel switching and power variability (7.5, 15 our 30 watts). I gotta say, though, that this one intrigues me. They have them in stock at my local GC, may have to run over there soon.
