I have a client whose father recently passed away and I have been tasked with cleaning up one of his father's favorite performing acoustics so it can be displayed along with some memorabilia tied to his colorful music career.
He asked me about formal wall display cases and we spoke a little about what a really cool wall case would offer (our ideas included amp tweed on the back wall of the case, mirrors on the inside side walls so you can see the instrument's sides, maybe a light in the top that can be turned on/off on command).
I did a quick Google search for guitar wall display cases, however, and it was immediately obvious that we can likely buy something nice that would be a fraction of what he'd pay me or someone else to build one.
Any of you guys have any experience or any leads on wall/memorabilia display cases, whether it be a pre-fab job or a custom builder out there?
This case will need both guitar and memorabilia space, so on the bigger side of things. On display will be a very worn '60s Harmony acoustic (humidification a plus but not a necessity, the guitar's already trashed), some old 45 records, newspaper clippings, some correspondence from Johnny Cash's camp, letters from the Country Music Hall of Fame. So the display needs to do justice to the memorabilia and not treat it as an afterthought if at all possible.
I'll divulge more on the client's father later on in the thread. Very cool story.
