which is the correct bottom plate for a early 80´s DiMarzio PAF?

rectangular or triangular "ears" ?

I’ve seen both in about 1980. Triangular thereafter. Thus, ‘squared’ prior. 

Yes, 1981 would be ‘triangular’.

1979 seems to be the transition year.. Braided to plastic-sheathed leads and square feet to triangular.. The slug coil poles changed between 1982/83 from beveled to flat.
