Steve Haynie Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 I would have been worried about removing some of the plating, but it did not come off.
sixesandsevens Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 I've actually seen this done to vintage cast iron cookware too. Cool stuff!
dhuber Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 I liked the video but ILMAO. Can I stick my finger in there? Why not wrap one wire around your toe and one around your index finger and hop in the bathtub.
HSB0531 Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Sure if you don’t mind the electric bill and waiting 2 hours for each part. Better idea would be to submerge metal parts in Apple cider vinegar for about 10 minutes, then clean off with baking soda and water. Does an even better job.
ZR Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Excuse the slight thread hijack, but what's the best way to remove gold plating on guitar parts?
Steve Haynie Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 A plating shop could do it for you. The same way electroplating got the gold on the metal, the gold comes off. The charge has to be reversed.
