Michael_B Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 His cultural impact in the USA was enormous and I don't recall hearing his name, before. I'm grateful for his work, which was entertaining, educational and long-living. https://consequenceofsound.net/2018/04/r-i-p-bob-dorough-schoolhouse-rock-composer-has-died-at-94/
tommy p Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 Those were catchy, well-written songs. I grew up in the time that they were on and could probably remember over half of them today.
Steve Haynie Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 I sang his songs growing up. They have popped up in my head many times over the decades.

crunchee Posted April 26, 2018 Posted April 26, 2018 RIP Bob. I remember seeing a short TV program about him and Schoolhouse Rock a few years back, I think it might have been on CBS Sunday Morning or on PBS. It took real talent to write those songs! Not only were they a part of my childhood, but they were well written and catchy as hell, I might not remember all the words but I remember the tunes for sure! He worked with Miles Davis way back when too, from what I just found out from his Wikipedia profile: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Dorough
Biz Prof Posted April 26, 2018 Posted April 26, 2018 How many of you here memorized the Preamble by learning the Schoolhouse Rock song? I sure did. The man was a genius.
