Live vocal mic suggestions

I play in a couple of local bar bands. I'm finding myself less and less satisfied with the SM58s we're using for the vocalists. We have a woman singing in one band who brought a Beta 58 with her GLDX wireless. I immediately noticed how well it cut through the mix and how much hotter the signal was. I've started researching alternatives. The Beta 58 is on my short list along with Sennheiser e935 and e945 models. Who here has used any of these live? Do you have a preference and, if so, why? My bands are a trio, bass, guitar, drums. Three dudes all sing. Doing a little of everything but mainly classic rock. The other is seven pieces with 5 singers. One woman and a classic big voice dude doing Blues. He's somewhere between Freddie and BB King. Lastly, are there any others I should consider? Ruggedness, clarity and off axis feedback regection are important attributes. Help me o wise ones.  😋

I actually have all those mic’s and a beta 57. I prefer the Senn 935 for my voice. The Beta 57 and 58 seem to add a low end hump that really is hard to notice until you hear your voice on playback. So if you desire more presence in your vocal the Senn 935 is a good choice over the Shure’s. Step up a couple hundred to the shure 87 and I really like that on my voice. The 945 is a very tight mike... if you’re off it your vocal drops quickly.

Sennheiser.  We played last night (acoustic) and I used mine instead of the usual SM58 or Beta version. So did one of the other vocalists. A bit hotter, better clarity and “ richness”.  Great proximity control, I go close on lower notes where my volume is not so much.  Doesn’t get boomy.

I use EV 767a's. They are hot and cut through the mix like nothing else I have used. I don't have to work as hard which is a bonus if you sing and play all night.

We use a couple of those Sennheisers. They seem a little less boomy than the Shures, and plenty rugged.

Thanks guys. I found a B-stock e935 on Reverb from a seller I've bought from before.  At under $95 I couldn't pass it up. So. I've got incoming.

Yup +1! When I was gigging this was my mic. Very useful in the studio too. I use it on kick drum & talk box guitar as well as vocals. A great all-arounder.

If you're a person who's right on the mic the Shure betas are good as are the Audix OM5 or OM7 or the EV N/D767a.  Helps with feedback too.  If you stay back from the mic, then go for the ol' Shure SM58.  Wider pickup pattern, but easier to feed back.   The Sennheiser 935 is more like the 58, but sounds a little better to my ears.
