diablo175 Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Like new, '18 MIJ reissue of the iconic RG550 in Road Flare Red. Still has plastic on it. Predictable stock pickups and one of the best trems I've played in a LONG time. No case but I have the original box and all the case candy. https://reverb.com/item/24103300-ibanez-rg550-genesis-2018-road-flare-red
tbonesullivan Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 oooo! Good luck with the sale. Those are nice. Does it have the IBZ pickups, or the V7/V8 pickups? They've been doing a lot of those reissues lately. Total shred machines. But also good for a lot of other things. I had an RG2550EX in Galaxy Black. Great guitar, but double locking trems and me just don't seem to get alone. I still always get random urges to get another shredder, but I already have two diablos I haven't played in years.
scottcald Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 I had a first year RG550 and it was very easy playing. If the new ones anywhere near that easy playing, then they must be great.

Travis Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 My brother used to have one of the original desert yellow RG550’s. Super solid guitar but I could never get used to that damn thin wizard neck. GLWTS, those things sound awesome.

These are indeed the V7/S1/V8 and as expected, they're meh at best. Most everyone who buys RG's is more or less prepared to replace those not long after purchase. One aspect I was pleased with was the neck didn't feel so ridonkulously thin. A little more meat and comfy to these mitts. The maple /maple neck is an 80's iconic staple and they did right by me with this one!

For a while now, the "regular" prestige models were coming with a Tone Zone and Air Norton from Dimarzio, which is IMHO definitely an improvement. They are now putting Seymour Duncan "Hyperion" pickups in some of their guitars. The reissue models are nice still.. so tempting. I just wish they came with cases, but that's how they are keeping the prices competitive.

The newer models are indeed coming with better p'ups. My former Indonesian JEM 77 BFP had some nice Dimarzios- Gravity Storms and Evo. Not too shabby p'ups, either. Wish I had held on to that. Wouldn't have bought this one or the Jem777 30th Anniv. re-issue.
