hamerhead Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 Have any of you had straps made? I'm looking to have one done for an incoming guitar and need some help finding a place to do it. Thanks.

Excellent craftsmanship and not suede but softened padded leather. I can’t remember the seller but if ebay still has the sale (it was a while ago) and you’re interested I’ll look it up. Definaltley a custom cuz this player’s name is “Gebo”
cynic Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 I've had pretty good luck buying several custom items on Etsy. There's lots of crap there, but there are also some talented craftspersons. There's a pretty wide variety of options that pop up searching for 'custom guitar strap'.
scottcald Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 Haven't had a custom one made, but at GearFest last year (remember when you could see people?) I met and spoke to the fellow who runs LM Products in Indiana. They're stuff is at Sweetwater and I thought it was really good, quality stuff. Here's their site: https://lm-products.myshopify.com Hopefully they can do what you're looking for.
crunchee Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 What kind of custom work do you want to have done on the strap? Custom design? Custom color? Custom length? Do you want leather? Not leather? Plain and simple, or Nudie suit-style? My personal faves are the Perri's Oil Leather Straps (a seller on Ebay calls this same model/brand of strap 'baseball glove leather'), they're sturdy, strong, and not wimpy; and very supple and comfortable too, with no break-in time needed. They also won't break the bank, MF has some colors of those discounted right now as well as a good selection of other Perri's straps. I bought a few of the Oil Leather ones on sale last year, and IMO they're great, hold up well to use, and still have that nice 'new' leather odor: No affiliation, BTW: https://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/perris-oil-leather-guitar-strap-with-contrast-stitching
hamerhead Posted April 6, 2020 Author Posted April 6, 2020 I just emailed an artsy-fartsy friend who may be able to help me out. She's pretty creative and does amazing work. What I'm looking for is nothing fancy: pretty standard black color, 3" wide, 60" long, but with a specific long-stem rose on the front (that's where the 'custom' part comes in). I like the light weight and slipperiness of nylon, but leather would be nice. I've never had a leather strap. Thanks for all the input so far, guys. I'm checking out everything.
scottcald Posted April 7, 2020 Posted April 7, 2020 If you like slippery nylon, get the leather with finished leather on both sides, not the suede underside many have.
hamerhead Posted July 29, 2020 Author Posted July 29, 2020 OK, so artsy-fartsy friend puts me in touch with her saddle-making friend. Result: ....so it matches.... It was her first-ever attempt at a guitar strap, so it isn't totally perfect, which makes it perfect. The back is kind of a soft suede that works out nice. First Shishkov, first custom strap. Not bad for 50 years of of doing this shit. It's my version of a gold watch, except I had to give it to myself.
