Caddie Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 This might give you a little background on Rockpile. This was copied from an interview found at this link http://www.geocities.com/mikegriffiths6/Bi...er_Q_and_A.htmlYou can "google" for more using "rockpile" or "dave edmunds" or "billy bremmer". Enjoy.NoonanQ: Who did you meet first, Dave Edmunds and Nick Lowe? Billy: I met them both when they came to see me play with Neil Innes + Fatso at the Nashville Rooms in London. They asked me then to make up the final spot in Rockpile.Q: What were the best things about playing in Rockpile?Billy: The whole four years, ‘76 to ‘80. Great friendship. Q: (from list member Greg Odegaard) Well over a year ago, on the Nick Lowe list, it was a given discussion that Seconds Of Pleasure was going to be officially and long overdue re-released with all the bonus cuts one could ever hope for. What has become of this project?...Anyway any insight from those in the know or want to be, about a Seconds of Pleasure re-release or reissue would be appreciate. Hate to imagine it got lost in some legal shuffle. Billy: Nick mentioned it to me when I saw him a couple of months ago, but I haven't heard anything more about this. Sorry. Q: Do you know what studio material from the Rockpile days was recorded and unreleased? Can you describe any you know about? Billy: Again, I really don't know. Maybe someone at Eden Studio, Cheswick, London would know, or Sue at Riviera Global. The only song I remember was recorded and not released was "Living Just A Little". It was recorded either by the Detroit Emeralds or the Detroit Spinners. Q: Was there very much live Rockpile recorded that might still be sitting 'in the vaults'? Billy: There are so many CDs that show up and I don't know who does the compilations.
LittleC Posted March 27, 2005 Posted March 27, 2005 Wasn't this model made for Dave Edmund...? (with the Dan Armstrong headstock) Saw Dave live in a little club two summers ago out on the eastend of LI. Awesome, beyond belief. Watching him play Sabre Dance simply blew me away. My wife was amazed and she did not know who Dave was. She had heard his name, and she recognized song from my spinning them at home. However, I will say that watching him sing Girl Talk was a little stretch, but at least he didn’t take it too seriously. It was one of those shows that on the drive home, I had to contemplate whether to go straight home and practice or quit guitar all together. Probably in my top 20 all-time favorite guitar players!
Disturber Posted March 27, 2005 Posted March 27, 2005 Just watching the Hamer DVD and saw the photo of Billy Bremmer. Was a big fan of him and Dave Edmunds. Any information about them since there one and only album. Billy Bremner lives here in Sweden. I've met hima couple of times. He's been releasing someof solo albums here and he's out playing withdifferent bands from time to time I think.
Brewmaster Posted March 27, 2005 Posted March 27, 2005 I really like those guitars. I'm always surprised how a simple thing like a different headstock added to a classic design changes the personality of an instrument and it's popular appeal. I think this is part of Schecter's appeal. I've often wondered why Dave Edmonds didn't make more of a splash on his own. He wrote a lot of songs that had great hooks but for some reason his success was limited. I guess he couldn't get the marketing machines behind him.
