I had one of those years ago and it was just the finest Gibson I'd ever owned. Yep, I sold it like a fool. New owner will be happy, this guitar will not disappoint. It be a HOLLOWBODY too! These guitars drip good tone.

Beautiful guitar! Is the lower bout of the body of this instrument about as wide as a Hamer Newport, or a tad narrower?  Any comments come to mind in comparing the two models?

 Thanks

The body is smaller than a Newport. Maybe half way between a Studio (or a Les Paul) and a Newport?  And it is fully hollow. They designed the interior shape of the carve of the body to reduce feedback. If you watch some of the Johnny A vids on YouTube, you can see that he rocks it pretty hard at high volume and it doesn't howl like you would think a hollow body would.

Also this guitar is 25.5" scale. Newports are 24.75"

Ebony fretboard. Binding front and back on the body and binding on the neck.

I replaced the Bigsby arm with a Chet Atkins arm which is a BIG upgrade. The original arm is in the case.

Let me know if you want me to measure the body width.

Here's a video of Johnny talking in depth about the development of this guitar:

I have an all mahogany Johnny A and as stated these are really great guitars. I had this and a Hamer Newport. I never bonded with the Newport for some reason, but love my Johnny A.
