narad Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 Man, I'm not a bass player but I'm still tempted! This is such a beautiful instrument: Just cross-posting the reverb listing. No affiliation. https://reverb.com/item/60696285-1991-hamer-usa-chaparral-4-string-bass-guitar-beautiful-honey-quilt-top-back-w-ohsc-8-5-pounds
topekatj Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 A beauty! Pretty light weight for a solid maple bass.
MCChris Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 That one is primo, and the gold hardware works on it.
HSB0531 Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 I like the gold hardware against the color of the body and also how the medium brown rosewood fretboard blends in. Although, I never liked the sound of an all maple instrument.
Steve Haynie Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 I have a beater Chaparral bass with maple like that. It feels good when I play it. Somebody needs to grab that one on Rwverb. You will be happy.
Jimbilly Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 The Chap basses are always good. I should have kept the red sparkle bolt-on that I paid about $110 for ages ago, had re-fretted, and then sold for something like $250 a couple of years later (I just remembered I know a guy who might know the guy I sold it to...). I still have the one in my profile pic, it makes me not care about the red sparkle one very much. I still have my setneck Chap5 (Barts, dots) in 'iridescent', it might actually be worth more than I paid for it in the mid '90s!
Ham Rex Posted September 18, 2022 Posted September 18, 2022 Someone got lucky. That was a beautiful bass!
