jujisque Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 I'm local on this one ... in case anyone wants to twist my arm to go pay it a visit and report back
Jim P Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 I had one just like this one - same color and all (except the knobs) - and foolishly sold it a few years ago.......ugh!
jujisque Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 I went in and checked out this guitar on a day I had off from work recently. I took my own studio custom to compare against it, and the feel between the guitars was remarkably identical. Probably with a blindfold (and if I didn't touch the knobs) I wouldn't be able to tell them apart when not plugged in. They weren't sure, but I'm confident that it no longer has the stock pickups ('59 and JB) in it. Not sure what the new pickups are, but they're closer to a PAF set, maybe a bit like a hot PAF (caveat that I didn't have anything to measure them with). Overall it sounded great and played wonderfully, as would be expected from this era of Hamer USA. The condition is what they claim: it's clean. The top is gorgeous. I honestly like this finish better than the sunburst finish on mine. But, the top on mine is a bit more special. It's a great guitar. They've got it priced a bit higher than I'm seeing in the market lately, but they're the nicest shop I've ever worked with and they'll work with you if you're motivated. I'll be going back to the shop next week to try another guitar, so I could take another look at it if anyone is interested or has specific questions. Send me a direct message if that's the case.
