ZR Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 My adult daughter wanted a guitar to learn on but cheap. They have a 2 1/2 year old son that may get in on the action (read, try to destroy it!) so again looking for cheap and possibly 3/4 size. Cheap as in $100 or less. So, that probably eliminates most privately shipped items so may have to try Rogue or Mitchell at GC or something similar. The overall level of most guitars are so much better than were available when I first started 40 years ago they should probably be ok. Does anyone have any advice on good cheap beginner acoustics, or have one to sell me. I'm in ATL. Thanks!
G Man Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 I would try your local Craigslist, there's always a bunch of beginner guitars for short money on there.
geoff_hartwell Posted October 5, 2023 Posted October 5, 2023 A Squier mini strat is a very serviceable instrument, light action, and definitely more likely to withstand a toddler haha. If they were considering electric, that is. I’d be happy to send you one for under 100, and contribute a small practice amp and cable.
ZR Posted October 6, 2023 Author Posted October 6, 2023 Well, first things first Geoff; what is the weight of said instrument, get your calipers out and give me measurements at the first fret and 12th, what's the acoustic voice like? Is the amp similar to a Marshal Plexi? What is the capacitance reading of said cable? Screw-on ends or soldered? Haha! Of course I kid! That's so generous of you! I'll PM you now. Thanks! I actually am fairly familiar with those mini strats. I would recommend them to some of the kids that came for lessons a while back and I was always pleasantly surprised with their sound and playability.
ZR Posted October 22, 2023 Author Posted October 22, 2023 People like Mr. Hartwell are why the HFC is the best! Yesterday I received the Squier mini strat, a line 6 Mini Spider amp, a Levys strap and a Fender cable from him for my adult daughter and son! For $100 I didn't ask any questions about anything but it was all in great shape and much better than I expected or deserved! Geoff and the HFC are awesome!!!
