hamerhead Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 I believe the the checkerboard thing was hit or miss. It just depended on what was available the day the logo was applied.
kizanski Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 There was a period in '81 when they stopped the checkerboard logo for whatever reason. They may have run out for a while, but then they returned.

The only Hamer (of dozens) I regret selling is a non-checkered 1980 Special. I don't expect I will ever buy another guitar, but a non-checkered Special would be one of the very few that could tempt me. So yeah, I'd be the idiot that pays that premium.
