cleaning / conditioning tolex? what do you like for that?

I knew of a dealer years ago who used to slather Armor-All onto the Tolex on all his used amps.  All that really did was make the amps slippery.  Not a good idea, especially with somewhat fragile tube amps.  I'd definitely avoid that stuff.

I can't remember if it was here, but someone put me on to using Turtle Wax Ice Spray for tolex.  First i use some soap / water with a towel to and a soft brush to get the dirt and such off. Then after it dries, a towel or microfiber towel with the Ice on it. Adds a bit of pop but doesn't leave a slippery residue.

Try automobile convertible top cleaner. Cuts through the muck, works like a charm.

Whitewall cleaner will chemically break down grime on rubber tires.  It does the same on tolex.  Let the whitewall cleaner have time to do its work.

That's a great idea, Griots Garage flagship store is near me, their stuff is expensive, but given how long a $20 bottle of that stuff would probably last, and it is typically quite good. - and I could probably use it on the car too...
