Jimbilly Posted April 28, 2024 Posted April 28, 2024 Some of my amps and cabs are starting to get old!
crunchee Posted April 28, 2024 Posted April 28, 2024 I knew of a dealer years ago who used to slather Armor-All onto the Tolex on all his used amps. All that really did was make the amps slippery. Not a good idea, especially with somewhat fragile tube amps. I'd definitely avoid that stuff.
tbonesullivan Posted April 28, 2024 Posted April 28, 2024 I can't remember if it was here, but someone put me on to using Turtle Wax Ice Spray for tolex. First i use some soap / water with a towel to and a soft brush to get the dirt and such off. Then after it dries, a towel or microfiber towel with the Ice on it. Adds a bit of pop but doesn't leave a slippery residue.
RobB Posted April 28, 2024 Posted April 28, 2024 Try automobile convertible top cleaner. Cuts through the muck, works like a charm.
Steve Haynie Posted April 28, 2024 Posted April 28, 2024 Whitewall cleaner will chemically break down grime on rubber tires. It does the same on tolex. Let the whitewall cleaner have time to do its work.

That's a great idea, Griots Garage flagship store is near me, their stuff is expensive, but given how long a $20 bottle of that stuff would probably last, and it is typically quite good. - and I could probably use it on the car too... https://www.griotsgarage.com/vinyl-rubber-dressing/
