sw686blue Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Well, here are the details: - 1996 Hamer Artist with wraparound bridge. - Condition is as new. Not a mark on it. No dings, dents, cracks, chips, belt-buckle rash, nothing. - One piece mahogany back. - Gorgeous chevron flame maple top. - Original pick-ups (Seth Lovers) have been replaced by a new set of SD '59s. I no longer have the Seths. - Original hardshell case included. - Medium thickness neck (1st fret - 1.7125", 12th fret - 2.0370"). - Schaller machine heads. - I have installed a TonePros wraparound bridge but will put back the original Wilkinson. I'm looking to get $925 + shipping for it. Will consider trades +/- cash for either a Hamer Standard (no '59 bursts please) or for a Robin Avalon.
Guest pirateflynn Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 I think you're nuts........but go ahead.
sw686blue Posted February 24, 2006 Author Posted February 24, 2006 When PRS coined the term 10-top, do you think that he meant this?
DavidE Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 When PRS coined the term 10-top, do you think that he meant this? No. By today's PRS standards, I think that would be a 15 top.
sw686blue Posted February 24, 2006 Author Posted February 24, 2006 Albert sayz... Still have the original Wilkinson. This is MUCH better!
sw686blue Posted February 24, 2006 Author Posted February 24, 2006 So is it for sale? How much? Yes, it's for sale. I'll get the details out later tonight.
sw686blue Posted February 25, 2006 Author Posted February 25, 2006 i'll open with $350... Ok. Paypal me the money and I'll definitely send you something. I doubt that it'll be this guitar but you'll get something alright
unfun 75 Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 I don't have a Standard to trade but I do have a Studio and cash. Any interest?
Zoner Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Please tell me these are thin sounding and play like poo so I don't have to do something my wife will be able to hold against me forever! I am looking for something that will get me a big, fat jazzy neck pickup tone (Sorry, but the Phantom Custom isn't quite capable, although I didn't expect to go there) like a 335, but still have the ability to bite on the bridge setting. Level Orange Gas alert warning here!!! Z

Send me some pix to sifakis AT ca DOT ibm DOT com and a description of the guitar in terms of condition. Thanks for your interest.Nick

Level Orange Gas alert warning here!!! Z Yeah, these guitars are super thin sounding. Think of fingernails on a blackboard. Playability is awful too. The neck pup can definitely do fat. Jazzy, not sure. I'm not a jazzy kind of guitar player. For me, this guitar covers tones from blues to rock to hardrock in spades. Looks great too!

tomteriffic Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Z, ol' buddy, you are in some deep doodoo with the Spouse Dept.... Yeah, the Phantom Custom does some sweet neck PU tones, but a way different animal from this.
Zoner Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 O.K., I'm gonna take my life into my own hands here - anyone got a couch I can use for a while? Look for a majority of Z's private stash to be available soon, as the "everything must go" sale will be commencing shortly. I just can't pass up a guitar that is that effin' beautiful and is allegedly capable of the smoky neck tones I crave. I was at G.C. messing with some PRS's this week and just couldn't see what all the fuss is about once you get past the wood, and this Artist looks so much better than any "10" top I have ever seen. Seems like a no-brainer, except for the whole divorce thing. I am a bit skeptical about the SD '59's, but we'll see. Z
BCR Greg Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Thanks for buying that, Zoner.Nick, we'll talk tomorrow, I assume. Think flame, hollowed mahogany and Brazilian....
Guest pirateflynn Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 The '59's are cool.........try 'em out and if you need a change, go for some double creme WCR Darkburst's.That's a good looking Artist.......Buy It!
Travis Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 That's another one I don't need, but was seriously considering. Beautiful piece there.
