A number of ways this show could have been perceived; glorious nostalgia, celebrating the impressive run and impact of a genre-defining band, paying homage to iconic musical figure(s)... ...or as a cynical example of the money-grabbing, capitalistic vulgarity. On the surface, it seems like a harmless, laudable endeavor. To most, it was one more (last) opportunity to see one of rock music's icons perform. (We'll see. If Sharon can squeeze another show, video or recording out of Ozz, she'll do it) As one post observed, the vast majority of those shown in attendance in Birmingham weren't even old enough to have been around in Sabb's heyday. I reckon they were there to get in on a good time and perhaps secure bragging rights in having attended a historically momentous event. I derived various things from it. The most profound of those was the pathetic, depressing spectacle of propping up a visibly diminished and health-ravaged Ozzy for one last gig. Surrounding him with genuinely supportive and immensely talented folks who shared in his career or shared much of the same time period in which Oz thrived was a fitting tribute. But ultimately, I was reminded of the inexorable march of time and the ravages of aging. Both his, theirs and mine. It just was kinda sad.

I debated whether to share this little gem. Obviously, I decided it was relevant enough and too good not to share. As stated earlier, I missed out on the golden age of Jay’s hijinks. However, I bore witness to one pivotal bit of ER’s infamous, incendiary wit in his takedown of our erstwhile Studio Custom. Those who know/knew Joe, know full well how deserving he likely was of such an online beat down. I was privy to several other HFC dust ups involving Joe. And as entertaining as they all were, few if any, ended so conclusively and decisively as the one between Joe and Jay. But the real dividend that little skirmish paid out was in the form of certain videos being made available. Incriminating videos. Instructional videos. Cringe worthy videos. 🤣 IYKYK. I can neither confirm nor deny that Jay had a hand in the distribution of those videos. I will only say that they only became available after the epic Joe versus the Jay volcano. 🤣

Congrats man!!! Nice score. I was hemming and hawwing as whether to grab that one or one like it... ... just because if yer gonna snag a hard tail, that body shape and those specs are hard to beat IMO. -
Happy birthday, dood! Don't really know you as I came into the HFC a wee bit late ('09) to catch the reportedly epic exchanges and flamings. Beat that C-word like it owes you money. Jim

PSA: Shishkov 0086

Gah! I just dropped about $3 grand on stage 1 mods/upgrades to the new Street Glide AND I'm no longer getting my health insurance covered by work. Otherwise, that would be all mine. -
As one who has also commissioned some guitars to approximate or equal a Hamer (but with a few, minor Diablo-centric variations) I can confidently state that if ya want a Hamer, nothing else will do. Not slagging other builders, ( Shishkov, HEL, Attila, Addict Guitars, etc) just saying if what you want is the genuine feel and mojo of a Hamer, you're better off waiting to land the real deal.

That's why ya'll need to ditch the Klons and get yerself a Fart Pedal 2! 🤣 -
I agree that the movie started to push into glance at watch-territory. But that may be because I had brought my wife and she's a lukewarm Zep fan at best. Also have to grudgingly agree that they may be my GOAT. Plant's ad libs are definitely a defining part of his musical identity/style and yes, they were a bit overused live. However, even though Zep holds the lofty position amongst the pantheon of rock's greatest, I don't listen to their live material very often so, his ad libbing isn't terribly irksome.

Yeah that is F-ed up!!! I snagged one of the last custom shop DK24's from a dealer run up in CT, right before the prices went through the roof. even at $4K +, they were prohibitively priced. The next price jump was $5+K. -
Money sent. Venmo asked for your phone last 4 digits but I sent it anyway. Hopefully ya got it!

Shipping tales - URGENT UPDATE!!!
diablo175 replied to santellavision's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I paid the most I've ever paid to ship the Virt to the buyer in Winnipeg CAN. $330 via UPS (his insistence). 😲 This didn't even have the total amount of insurance that could be had. Reverb wouldn't cover it for more than $2000 so I couldn't even use Reverb's discounted shipping. Turns out UPS set that limit but buyer OK-ed insuring for that amount. Needless to say, we were both more nervous than a long tailed cat in room full of rocking chairs. Luckily, it arrived perfectly intact (in fairness, I have managed to cultivate some very solid packing skills in my years as a guitar buying/selling whore. ) and in 3 days as was stated. Don't even like to think about what he paid in VATs and duties. Ended up being an additional $1600 CAN? Told him it woulda been cheaper to have me fly out and deliver in person. -

Yeah, I admit it- if I could go back in time to bang any female musician, I'd go for both the chicks in ABBA. -
Didn't catch it it IMAX but did see it on the big screen and I was very satisfied. To a rock and history fan like me (who also happens to have adored Zeppelin in the day) it was a damn good flick; very informative and MASSIVELY inspirational. So much so that I had a hard time sitting through the last hour as I wanted to go home and pick up my guitar. Kept thinking how fortunate musicians were back then in terms of the burgeoning music scene. Sure, the equipment was a bit more primitive but damn, what a time to be alive and making music. So much uncharted territory then- plenty of opportunity to be trail blazers and innovators.

Dammit all. It was playing this weekend and I snoozed so, I lose. Guess I'll be waiting 'til it comes out on streaming /on demand.

I snagged one of the Charvel ash San Dimas they were blowing out for $400 on Adorama, a while back. I bought it fully expecting to try and see if I could get on with a 22 fret and if not, sell it for slight profit. I made a little over $300 on it a month back. Tempted to try my luck again with one of these Frankies. -

It's somewhat reassuring that after 31 years as a public school teacher, the best part of my work day is still the 20 minutes or so I spend playing guitar before heading off to inspire and enrich the ungrateful little sh*ts. 😆 -
Nice! 🤘 "...and a guitarist named Jim..." Good enough. 😆
