It's probably best to let this person continue thinking he's got a USA Hamer but welcome him to discuss this with our own brothers Matthes. There are few people on here who know more about Hamer than the brother Matthes.

Been up for 48 hours but I think Phil X is the Pimp!
diablo175 replied to Saul Goodman's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Phil makes a couple of good points I can relate to vis-à-vis volume control. Funny thing is, it's not like these are new revelations- but using the guitar's volume control specifically to alter tone is kinda handy. EVH achieved some of his clean tones by dialing back the volume knob. This is an approach I have been using of late, to good effect, in the cover band. In some respects, I think the volume control works better at adjusting tone than volume. For actual volume changes without change in tone, I use my expression pedal set as a volume control on the FM 9. I get true volume adjustment without losing the tone. -
Custom Stevenson Std 24- $3100
diablo175 replied to diablo175's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
I have no qualms with quilted maple but I think @scottcald finds it to be incongruous with the metal flake finish on the body and I can see his point. I would have preferred it remaining as bare maple but it wasn't a deal-killer. -
Custom Stevenson Std 24- $3100
diablo175 replied to diablo175's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
I originally opted for a plain, maple head stock. Ted suggested the quilted veneer. I'm indifferent to it. -
Thinning of the herd continues! Custom-ordered Standard 24 from Ted Stevenson https://www.tedstevensonguitars.com/ - a monster builder up in Montreal. (think: Tyler Guitars in terms of quality and materials) In immaculate condition. One tiny, hard to capture, neck pocket crack about 1/4 " in length, no other issues. This amazing ax features a mahogany body, maple neck/board, 24 stainless jumbo frets, Gravelin Mongoose F-spaced HB, SC-sized Sustainiac, Orig. Floyd Rose, FR fat brass block and noiseless springs, kill switch tone pot (spring loaded- just gently press down to interrupt signal) reversed head stock, Schaller strap locks & HSC. This is up on Marketplace for same price and $100 shipping. HFCers get shipping included in the price.

Umm, this should be in the FS/FT/PSA section, shouldn't it?

Help Me Identify this Awesome Guitar
diablo175 replied to Tim Byrne's question in Ask the HFC Experts
Are the tuners original, Hamer stamped? Never seen the white pegs on black tuning machines. -
It blows my mind that he was able(?) to do one last concert appearance, and a momentous one at that, before he expired. He has forever etched his name in the annuls of rock n roll history and will be missed.

Careful what you wish for. Shorts: Or not:

I really don't want to sell but I don't play it. At all. In good condition with minor dents and dings (nothing through the paint) I added a set of Dunlop gold strap locks and a gold Schaller LockMeister w/ short bolts. Everything else is stock IIRC. Missing both the truss cover plates. This plays superbly. It's currently set up with EB 9-42 Cobalt Slinkys tunes down to D#. Prefer local pick up but will ship- buyer pays shipping. With case, it's F*cking HEAVY. You've been advised.

That's it. I'm selling all my guitars***

This thread is like watching a vehicular crash in slow motion. Can't look away. A metaphor for the transition into old age. Inexorable. Ungraceful. Terrifying. But we are unable to not partake of it. It's even oddly amusing. It's the vehicle we all are driving/riding in. -

I take a modicum of pride in saying I came of age in the 80's because of the music. Truth be told, I consider myself lucky, growing up in the 70's and 80's as there was some epic f-ing music from both decades. ETA- I don't give a fat rat's ass what is trending in music on the radio. Don't really listen to it and I derive far too much enjoyment from rehashing the same old, tired licks and runs on guitar to give it up. -
I'm not even sure why he needs the pink case under it. To transport it? Sure. Okay. But why have it raised up like that? I like my FM9 on the terra firma as low to the ground as possible. I have to do some quick preset changes in the middle of a few songs and any additional height is just more effort needed and slower reaction times. YMMV

Right? And not keen on the red tortoise pick guard with it... ...but that all is eclipsed by the toddler jammies outfit.

I have never fully embraced the no shorts on stage rule for musicians but I can definitely get behind a ban on this ensemble:

Was having this discussion with our own DBraz offline. Nuno is a standout amongst what was a crowded field of contenders in the 80's and early 90's. Listening to his playing, I've always been awed by his combination of feel and technique. But what REALLY floors me and prompts me to put him on a level with Eddie are his fluidity and the mind blowing way he blends techniques and styles so smoothly. Sure, he's stoopid fast but it's the smooth, seamless way in which he weaves a tapestry of styles and phrasing. Just listen to the sumptuous buffet of tasty sonics, styles and techniques he serves up on Pornograffitti and Color Me Blind. Like Eddie, I think some of that can be attributed to Nuno's ethnic/cultural heritage. He has that innate rhythmic tastiness and instinct. Could Eddie's Indonesian heritage also be looked at as contributing to some degree to his amazing sense of rhythm?

+1 Nuno was on point.

I'm not taking away from his deserving a fitting send off/tribute. Not at all. I just have seen what the music industry has and is doing and the cynic naturally questions the motives behind why Sharon did it. Cash grab? It also pained me to see him look so diminished. He was a HUGE influence on me as both a bumbling teen and as an adult musician. And I agree that you don't have to be of the same generation as Ozzy to appreciate Ozzy. I'm just mindful of Sabbath's 70's and Dio-era early 80's heyday and their appeal to a certain age range. Ozzy's ability to remain relevant all these years is remarkable. You'd have to give some of the credit to Sharon for that. But Sabbath doesn't strike me as a band that held that same kind of longevity in terms of remaining relevant. I think Dio did an amazing job of revamping them in 1980 and the Ozzy/Sabs reunion kinda helped too. But I don't think they held that same kind of endurance. I dunno, maybe I'm way off on that.

Well, that's where we're at, isn't it? We can only make assumptions. And you know what they say about assuming...
