  1. Thx to RobB!!!!
  2. Listening to this on my drive to work today; to my ear it sounds a LOT like early Sabbath; the riff, the sloppy jazzy drums, the vocal melody, the production, and esp @ the end the double overdubbed different solos. if it was an SG w/ a little more gain instead of a tele, and a more nasal sounding vocal it coulda been on Sabs 1st record.
  3. Coming off a 3 month Wes Montgomery binge, my new partner at work is a 25 year old metalhead, so the ambulance has been rawkin to Slayer seasons in the abyss Metallica ride the lightning Plus COC, Maiden, Clutch, Mastodon, Lamb Of God, AIC, Soundgarden, and of course Sabs ng
  4. Been sifting thru Sco's earliest releases, downloaded this gem;
  5. just watched this documentary this week, made me download some tunes i lisrtened to in college. newbies should get "truth & soul", it is their finest hour;
  6. HAHA!!! funny hey go see my bro's tribute THINK LIZZY https://www.facebook.com/thinklizzytx?fref=ts
  7. you gotta be firm w/ CL deals. i always insist on a phone number, & i spell out the deal before we meet; "ok, we're meeting at 1pm at food lion, and you're bringing me $300 cash, no haggling or funny business". if they start in w/ "well i got to see it first before i decide if its worth $300", i'll say "nevermind, i'm too busy for games"...
  8. after hearing it this morning on pandora, i'm convinced that miles davis tune "right off" from tribute to jack johnson was the inspiration for jeff becks "freeway jam".
  9. brian was in several of my classes at north texas. just downloaded this a few months ago; https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=10153258339814271&id=173727604270 also the latest wayne krantz feeling nostalgic;
  10. i thought it was a cane front boogie...?
  11. this has happened several times to me. i no longer buy guitars off the web, i want to play them 1st (plus i can no longer afford it!)
  12. i felt the same way w/ my axe fx. i just dont use a buncha tones, usually a few variations of fendery clean and high gain w/ some light delay & eq/volume tweaks, maybe an occasional phaser or trem. plus i'd get all OCD tweaking chasing tone for hours on the axe-fx & feeling like my ears weren't sophisticated enough to hear the difference in voltage/sag/etc i REALLY like the feature set on my blackstar id15 ("few variations of fendery clean and high gain w/ some light delay & eq/volume tweaks, maybe an occasional phaser or trem", all storable / footswitchable, & a tuner). i like the high gain only slightly better on my mesa mini recto, and miss the above conviences & flexibility. really thinking about trying a 60w or 100w version. but as always, use what works for you, use what you enjoy, use the right tool for the job, yada yada... i would never swear allegiance to any one technology, brand, or style of equipment, or deride others who do.
  13. wow, i remember jimmy from riding my bike from richardson over to garland to gawk at guitars at the store he worked, arnold & morgan music
