  1. HFC is a beautiful thing!
  2. THIS. +4 (5?) for the powerblock (or similar small loud SS amp), use your same FX & speaker. i used a PB & vox tonelab ST for awhile in the rush tribute.
  3. she-at, i do the whole step pull up all the time.
  4. yep; EVH's whammy abuse in general (yes i know he used a trad fender bridge on the 1st 2 albums), and brad gillis warbles on ozzy's "speak of the devil" in particular were a big early influence, along w/ vai & dime later on. i grew out of that for awhile and played hardtails from ~'90 to ~'09 (playing jazz/funk/classic rock most of this time), but as soon as i started playing heavy shit again i started flipping thru floyded guitars.
  5. nice! looks like a water mocasin eastern cottonmouth.
  6. i put a big block in a chap i had and couldn't pull up as far, it really cut down the range of the floyd (at least in that guitar).
  7. yeah but having a floyd and NOT being able to use it fully is like having a smoking hot girlfriend who will only give you handjobs.
  8. jeffro, play your G&L clean, then play a floyded guitar, you can hear the pingy tone on a floyd thru a clean amp.
  9. they do sound different. like jay said, it a combo of many things to get them to sound right. a high gain amp and the right pickups help. but i'm playing my shredder then switch to my duotone, i'm surprised how much fuller the DT sounds (which is due to everything -scale length/setneck/woods/bridge- being different).
  10. thanx, but it doesn't hold a candle to a stiked machine. i will be rawking one of stikes finishes in the near future, oh yes. a couple of friends shot some cell phone vids, still waiting to see it. thanx for all the kind words, everyone. it is a pleasure jamming w/ stike/jim/jeff, they are great players and people.
  11. its way worse for kiss because of the makeup/stageshow/aggressive marketing (and gene's big mouth). if they had dressed like every other 70's hard rawk band and never did what they did image-wise, people wouldn't hate on them as much, and would recognise them as a good band. their first 4 albums are chock full of good tunes, haromony vocals, and playing. IMFO. as far as their decline in quality over the years, i think its the same as any other long term band (stones, aerosmith, zz top, etc).
  12. 1st time i've been to southland ballroom, awesome room/stage/PA/lights. they have touring acts there too.
  13. thanx to my boy mike/monocosis, and also my new bro glen/lefthandead for coming out to the gig! good times!!!
  14. looking fwd to tonight!
  15. whatup rodney!! we're playing in mocksville nc w/ spank nov 10, it's a little closer to you (but still a haul and a half).
  16. sheesh, thats not nearly gaudy enough to be a midlife crisis ax... lookit MCchris, or diablo... or THIS.......
  17. stike is a white trash foodie. i'm just white trash.
  18. is the chargrill still open?
  19. stike, jim, & myself (plus jeffs dusty cymbal) dilligently rehearsing for fridays gig at southland ballroom in raleigh.
  20. not worthy to be mentioned in the same thread as the greats, but here's some farm animal noises;
