  1. And DavidE responds in kind with the negative: "Description inaccurate.Contact 4 pics.Discourteous when adrsd. I pd. in minutes." HA! Well done sir!
  2. So true. I like Elderly and have shopped there many times, but their grading system is WAY out of whack. I'm guessing the seller knows that too and is intentionally using them as a yardstick. This guy is a total tool. PLEASE don't let the fear of a retaliatory feedback prevent you from doing what needs to be done here. I swear, rape victims are probably more inclined to identify their attackers than eBay people are inclined to leave negative feedback. eBay would probably suck less if more people outed the liars and scumbags on there.
  3. Let's throw another log on this already volatile thread, shall we? That, however, is why the "Rock Star" persona that just oozes out of guys like Page and Plant doesn't exist anymore. Grohl's fanboi ramblings do not a larger-than-life figure make.
  4. Suicide or not, he'd have split that scene soon enough.
  5. This one's the real obstacle. Can't just turn your back on working with Damnocracy to support some Sha Na Na type revival band. Those kind of talents only come together once in a generation. I think Savage Animal went the way of Supernova; imploded under the heat of their own massive talent. Now Foreigner, a rock juggernaut still percolating with freshness and vitality ... THAT'S gonna be a problem.
  6. I said "many." If you took offense to it, you're obviously among the many.
  7. No question. There's a mystique thing with frontmen/lead guitarists. Page/Plant milked that to the hilt, as did Tyler/Perry, Rose/Hudson, etc. One thing all the guitarists in this list had/have in common is that they were WAY into drugs during their primes. Tends to slop things up a bit. Also, I don't get the impression that any of them were woodshedders. They got to a point where they found their voice on guitar and stopped trying to improve technically (which ain't a bad thing IMO). Where Page really shines is on acoustic. No issues with precision there. The big question is, with all the great arrangers in the band, why didn't Zeppelin rearrange their songs without keyboards for the stage? That would have helped. Too much happening on the studio tracks to recreate it with one guitar only (which is a big reason why the Page/Black Crowes stuff is so cool, all the parts from the albums are covered).
  8. No, that's obviously the work of a "writer." Writing nerds are equally insufferable as music nerds. Dude spilled out all of his verbal "stun guitar" licks in that section. I'd also like to amend my previous statement. Few "musician types" criticize musicians, especially undoubtedly successful and legendary ones like Page. Many "musician wannabe types" criticize musicians.
  9. We should all be fortunate enough to "suck" as much as Jimmy Page. The only people who give a shit about the sloppiness are musician types. While it's good to have them in your camp as well, ultimately they'll find fault with anything you do (replete with arms folded and variations of "HARRRUMPH!" coming out of their mouths) so fuck 'em.
  10. Maybe we can all agree on this: it's gonna be a huge letdown for Jason to return to Foreigner.
  11. Thanks to all, but especially to this man, who hooked me up with a very generous gift after taking me on a tour of Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon. Never even met him before, either. Thanks again, Marcus. The HFC rules!
  12. So you're saying the person in question is a male .... and possibly indecisive .... and possibly averse to forward movement .... Dammit! I'm still stumped!
  13. So you're saying the person in question is a male ....
  14. Ultimately it's in the ears of the player. Someone with little band experience is gonna sound more boorish thru a 12-watt amp than a more seasoned player will thru a 100-watter. Like you've ever played knuckle-draggin', mouth-breathin', testosterone-driven music with a LOUD drummer. Young Republicans doesn't count, because you ARE the drummer.
  15. And another thing: drummers and sound guys dictate volume, not guitar players.
  16. It's your party - lay down the law! Who wants ear-bleeds from "I want you to surrender" or "Mustang Freebird" anyway? If this "big room" is akin to a high-school gymnasium, volume is automatically going to be a problem. If I might offer a suggestion: backline the stage with an assortment of pre-approved amps and be done with it. I've done this at weekly jam sessions with great success. It also reduces change-up time between acts dramatically. One overpowered instrument f***s up the whole mix for everybody. You have the right idea. Where is it written that a 100-watt amp has to be turned up all the way? My 6V6 Valvetechs are only 22 watts; if you don't think they can knock down a horse at 10 paces, you're mistaken. Besides, like I said, Johnny's just wanting maximum clean headroom for those Knopfler-esque lines he likes to play.
  17. I thought you said this was a BIG room, brah.
  18. I have not posted guidelines for the jam yet but I would like to keep with a past rule of guitar amps that are 30 watts or less please. Oh come on. Johnny needs the clean headroom!
  19. Yeah, that town ain't gonna know what hit it.
  20. Well, it's the visual aspects that get people to notice your product. Doubtful that people listened to a Buddy Holly record and said "wow, that's some nice Strat tone." They saw him on Ed Sullivan and said "wow, that's a cool-lookin' guitar. Who makes it? I want one."
  21. I dunno, Jaye's pretty old .....
  22. No, but CMT definitely is. Product placement in pop country videos would make more sense for Hamer than going for visibility with Headbanger's Ball-type stuff.
  23. That "my way or the highway," Soup Nazi approach played a HUGE part in the cult of personality he created around himself, and thus the value of his products. Brilliant marketing really, whether that was his intent of not. Kind of like how we're attracted to a certain guitar maker that says "no" 100 times to a custom option and then says "yes" the 101st time. The frustration of dealing with people like that is oddly attractive.
  24. Are you the seller? lol
