While by no means lucrative, I'm finding the jam band scene to be accepting of musicians of different ages, looks, styles, what have you. Of course, I realize it's not for everyone. But I'm enjoying it very much. My first foray into the cover/tribute band thing last year ended when they wanted to add stuff like Papa Roach and Drowning Pool to the set, and also wear leather pants and eyeliner. No way in hell I was willing or able (respectively) to do that.

I saw Tesla last night at the House of Blues for $39, which included the second CD of their "Real to Reel" release (which is excellent IMO) and did not include TM convenience fees to the tune of $10 per ticket (I purchased the tickets at the box office). Highly enjoyable, and I was molested by a thirty-something hair metal babe (yes, a female) on my way to get a beer. Good times! I may be done going to arena shows. An exception might be AC/DC, who probably have one big tour left in them. But they're in the midst of their longest period of inactivity ever. If and when they do hit the road, who knows if they'll be able to summon up the energy they're known for.

Yeah. I'd like to see a $2700 t-shirt. I once bought a sticker for roughly that amount. It was the one ASCAP gave me to put on the door of the cafe to show I was compliant with their licensing guidelines.

Bonnaroo is no longer just a hippie fest. It's all about good music, and most of all, good musicianship.
