Kahlers kill tone as far as Im concerned. I think that Floyds thin things out a bit but not enough to make them a problem.

Again...you have to add the "Feel Factor"....tubes feel very different to me when playing.

Which is easily reproduced by solid state these days so thats not entirely it. Tubes have a feel more than a sound that makes them more musical. Its organic for lack of a better word. Tubes breath and along with the even order harmonics they introduce artifacts into the signal path that gives the tone that "certain" characteristic...wow...thats sure dancing around the questeion innit?

Vital part of my setup. I get less than ear splitting volume and still get the output tubes to breath. Takes the fuzz right out of my low volume tone. Doesnt make a 2203 a bedroom wonder but its great for keeping your hearing for a few years longer.

Does it really matter where you buy it as long as the quality is there. Im a huge Lynch fan but I found that vid to be pretty much just goofing off on the guitar. I couldnt recognize most of the tunes either...however Im one of those guys that can watch wankery with glee! :angry:

That guy in the LP forum must be loaded. Original V owner and has had several 70's Hamer Standards. I have played a number of 70s Gibson Explorers and fretburn is all I can say.

There is a discussion over at LesPaulforum about the Gibson Historic Korina V and how it compares to others. I suggested a Hamer Korina Vector and some are saying that its so out of spec from a Gibson V that it doesnt compare.

Unplugged its pretty loud, very resonant, almost sounds like my 61 RI SG unplugged. Through the Marshalls the mids are smooth with lots of harmonic overtones. Big fat but not muddy. The bottom end is surprising, I thought at first that it lacked some bottom but the mids are so full they blend in with the bottom and the bottom is definitely there.

I play mine through Budda SuperDrive amps, a DSL 100, an old '79 JMP 2203 and JCM800 2204. That Shiva should make is sound like a giant!.

I have been playing the Korina V that I got from Pheonix quite a bit lately. It always takes me a while to take in the full character of a guitar because I seem to hear different things on different days. I will say this, this guitar has the most complex mids of any of my guitars hands down! It sings, its big and fat sounding but still articulate with a bit of sparkle or twang at the top. It has a full sounding low end but the mids is where this guitar shines. Its very organic sounding through my amps. Im keeping this one! This Korina V and my Gibson 61 RI SG both have extraordinary tone compared to my other guitars.

Its not devoid of bottom but my R7 and 61 SG RI has more.

I used my MRS8 protable studio and I recorded an impromptu song with the Vector. Its raw but I may post it.

I have spent a few days with my new Vector and it has a distinctive tone. Not a whole lot of bottom, lots of low mids with an interesting "twang" to the top end. Its interesting that I wouldnt say that the sound is either fat or thin. Very expessive and sweet sounding. Those 59s are not very hot at all, I find myself pushing the OD up for overdrive sounds. I can really see why blues players love these things...the tone is right in slot. Whos next?
