  1. I'm just stunned. That is a true work of art. Congrats!!!
  2. A Wizard, A True Star Runt: The Ballad of Todd Rundgren and my personal fave Something/Anything ('I Saw the Light' is one of my all time fave songs)
  3. Love that finish. Never was into green that much, but the more I see Hamers greenbursts the more I like 'em. And +1 on the peghead face.
  4. Love Caddys! Great score, enjoy!
  5. Can't wait, e-mail sent. Thanks, Chris!
  6. I have three Hamers (two '81 Specials and a '00 Newport) at the moment, but have owned a few others over the years (mostly back in the late '70s/early '80s). I had been away from the brand since the mid-'80s, and part of my renewed interest was indeed finding this forum last year. At one time when I was new to guitar I was a Gibson purist, but that wore off pretty fast. Never dug Fenders (though I love the Strat shape) nor Ibanez all that much, and only toyed with other companies but never found one I would play exclusively. I tend to dig a guitar more for it's playability and sound rather than it's "name", and got into the habit of having my guitars custom made rather than buy off the rack. All that said, if there's one company I would call my favorite, it's Hamer. The ones I had and lost I still lament, the ones I have now ain't going nowhere and I will acquire more (hear that, color graphic Special, I'm still huntin' fer ya, honey!). As stated in this thread over and over, they are exceptional instruments, and are probably the only brand that can be bought without playing 'em first, which truly says it all about the quality.

  8. So what's everyones guess? Is Jol going to be bringing Dantzig guitars to market?
  9. Nice grab! I'm sure the Hamer experts here will be able to give some skinny on it's origins. Looking forward to hearing about them....
  10. Not mine, at a great starting price close enough to tree-fiddy ($399) though there is a reserve... http://cgi.ebay.com/1998-First-Run-HAMER-R...4#ht_500wt_1154
  11. Blocked and blocked! This is fantastic! Can't wait to hear all the details.
  12. Great pics, sounds like a great show! For the longest time I've been trying to figure out who Rick looks like now, and with these pix it finally struck me- Art Carney!
  13. Happy birthday to a fellow Chicagoan!
  14. -1 on the suburbs - thats just lame. If anyone needs help with hotels, I can offer suggestions that might be cheaper. Though a city event would be just fine, the 'burbs suggestion is not "lame". Especially, as David pointed out, the lower cost for travelers (do it in Rosemont and you're a max $10 cab ride from O'Hare), easier and cheaper parking (and access for driving in most cases) and decent hotel rates for hotels that are a step or two above the "cheaper" places in the city. Like the city idea, just don't want to limit any options by being snobbish against the suburbs.
  15. Second this. Halloween is definitely not the time, too much going on.
  16. Wow, I missed that! Amazing amazing work!!!
  17. I have to ask the unaskable- what does a repair like this cost? Amazing work, beautiful job.
  18. Spoon (the giant spoon, 'natch) Seal (on the poster above White Zombie) Whitesnake (crawling up the light pole) The Eels (coming up the street in the front) Presidents of the United States (posters of JFK & Reagan on the wall next to Seal) Garbage (the over-turned trash can in the street) Black Crowes (on the Main Street sign) Ratt (behind the scissors) Yellowman (leaning against building on the left) Great White (poster behind Yellowman) This is addictive....
