  1. well considering how fender turned jackson upside down and shook things up taking QC to an all time low..... then to bring grover jackson back for a batch $10K bolt on charvels... I would think its only a matter of time before we have a teary reunion of paul hamer and jol dantzig.... and the $10K standard ??? at the least, I would honestly have to believe in the next year we will see hamers being built in corona... and or everyone youve gotten to know at hamer looking for jobs. interesting to see how this pans out... maybe I should quick order one last custom hamer, another thing to consider is the fender /gibby non compete..... could this be the end of the almighty standard , vector and special ? its very possible. that or we'll be hearing more yes' than no's to custom orders... very sad news , and to think fender was on its knees begging for mercy not so long ago..
  2. chris, you are very welcome ! I'm glad that you are happy with the sunburst and that its getting a loving home its been a little rough on me downsizing after all these years, but you made things a bit easier on this one for me.
  3. odd with the strong euro buying power at this time, most are still opting for dots rather than spending a little more for crowns ? its only a matter of time before they reach 4 digit clips. just an observation.
  4. Of course it is. It's a used instrument. a real steal if the auction makes it to end, but these guitars look so much better in "uber tortoise" fashion.
  5. its probably time to start coughing up the askings instead of waiting for the relists
  6. will consider marshall jubilee and/or 70's master volume marshall gear in trade. other hamers to be offered shortly.
  7. '80 B&C sunburst. cherry burst, good frets, some dings here and there. no breaks. replaced nut and dimarzio super distortion at the bridge. hamer case included. SOLD !!!!
  8. your ship has come in... tried to email and PM you... gimme a shout and let me know one way or another before I change my mind
  9. I got my ear to the sounding board for ya.. I wont be adding any other non pointy headstocked ones to my little grouping unless in the VERY unlikely event its a B&C vec,. when one surfaces in my neck of the woods I'll definately forward you all the info so you can pounce on it !
  10. not for sale.... but one schenker himself would likely have a hard time laying off of.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v57/peed...k7/MVC-170S.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v57/peed...k7/MVC-169S.jpg
  11. ditto....life must be good.... cause there isnt much out there.... however, I havent seen a flametop chap custom go for under $1300 in quite a while now... the one that was on ebay this past week looked pretty nice... I regret letting paults' flametop go.....wont make that mistake again....
  12. I have played boogies on and off since the late 70s. still havent found one that beats my marshalls... recently tried the discontinued F-100 halfstack in orange. liked the cleans but found them to not be bright and edgey enough . the extra gain though very cool, was totally impossible to control and it squeeled at higher volumes.... I'll stick to my master marshalls and jubs. spend for mods not inefficiency. there is no one amp that gets good fender clean and great marshall gain... buy both and save the hit on a boogie...
  13. yea send 'em all my way
  14. 50-60s strats and teles were never cheap compared to new guitars in the '80s. some fenders were fetching 3-5k then. as with any guitar brand there are incredible examples as well as turds. actually this is a silly post to begin with., you either like early fenders and gibsons or you dont, but you cant compare apples to oranges. I've had a ton of vintage fenders over the years ,loved the sound i got from them, but I always found the 7.5 radius to be non soloing friendly. I still have a 50s tele which has been kept only for a conversation piece, owning it since '85 and thats probably the last time I actually laid hands on it. sounds great, but sucks to play... yea strumming in the cowboy positions is fine but soloing is out. as for lespauls... I miss the mid to late 80s when you could buy a paul for $250-500.... I'd love to cash in that stash all over again. my neighbors down the road asked me over 2 weeks ago. he was briefly in a somewhat regionally succesfull band back in the late '70s and has a stupid clean '60 lespaul, that many are trying to pry from his hands...his low offers are in the mid 40's. gruhn calls him a couple times a year. he's asked me a few times what he should do.... I keep telling him if he likes the guitar and "actually" plays it, doesnt need the money and is still enamoured with the idea of owning a vintage gibson, that theres no reason on earth to think of selling it. I personally believe he enjoys the bragging rights , but what is bragging unless someone desperately wants what you got... kind of like being the last man on earth and bragging you have a bigger dick than everyone else.... for grins, I brought over my beater '78 b&c sunburst and we compared the paul to it through his marshall... in my opinion the hamer was a much better playing/sounding guitar, my neighbor was surprised and even agreed..... but it wasnt a fair comparison, so a moot point just like comparing a suhr or anderson to a vintage fender... or a volkswagon to a ferrari. whether you like them or not, unless someone is a real bonehead, its pretty obvious if you could buy vintage guitars for cheap cheap, you would and should...
  15. devo and tin machine for actors playing artists, cant beat keiffer and sebastian doing the ABC's kiddie rock skit
  16. I don't whine Austin, although I have been known to stew and brood. Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five have lent "historic artistic influence," as Willie put it, to the music that we hear around us every day (regardless of if you view that as a good or a bad thing), being one of the first Rap/Hip Hip acts to gain popularity. Without them there is no Run-DMC, and therefore no Beastie Boys, and so on. Again: this is either something that you love or dread, but the historical significance is obvious. R.E.M. and Michael Stipe (speaking of WHINING!!) have not made this kind of mark. we could have done without the beastie boys and run dmc just fine though I fully understand/respect the "global" impact rap music has had over the last 25+ years, I guess I dont get the "continued" pontification in degrading women, and glorification of gang violence. this isnt simple '70s punk rock at work here .... and I fully realize there are different forms of rapping. but this is considered art? with few exceptions, "most to me anyway, is nothing more than urban themed bullshitting over copped/covered background music". love 'em or hate 'em even , and as sad/campy as r.e.m. became during/after the "stand" or "shiney happy people" era. I believe they are a very good example of a band that helped to shape/better define "americas" version of new wave , and the earliest of alternative movements, which can definately still be heard today. so, whether or not one likes new wave or the vast sea of alternative music, it would seem r.e.m. is equally then worthy of recognition if thats the simple measuring stick being used.. yearly, there are plenty of great overlooked artists, that are more worthy than either of the aforementioned.
  17. anything crowded house is great live... I could go on and on about OZ/NZ bands live, but probably not the place.
  18. looks like female handwriting...that or a 10 year olds... aaahhhh geez .... this guy is from wisconsin.?... sometimes its embarrassing to admitt I was born/returned here.... its always the idiots from my home state selling the bone head of the week stuff....
  19. I am definately pointing more to the '80s hair metal than at the '70s rock genre, though there are definate parallels. I know first hand that there are folks out there that do wanna see older players doing what they enjoy... but I believe those folks are the minority today. again its a matter of how believable you are doing it... and that was more the point than anything.
  20. peter is this the ebay doubleneck form 2 years ago ?
  21. rocking is one thing, being believable at your age vs. the genre is entirley a different story . I love metal, ...I have no problems cranking that at home or in the car, pontoon boat....pissing off one of my lake prick neighbors jamming with old buds/bandmates that come to town, even pulling some wild assed tunes out of the closet in a rehearsal/sound check setting for grins. I still wear my hair long...well longer than most... I've been blessed that at 41, I really look young for my age [at least for now & fingers crossed] unless you are some working metal novelty act,or in one of the pro bands that made that music famous, "hey spare that stuff live today." I vividly remember walking into clubs around the country as a young player/listener thinking what the f^ck are these old guys doing here playing.. !!!!!! its not that you may not be good at what you do... its the clubs youre gonna play that type of material in are simply geared for a younger crowd... "most" kids in general dont care to hang around with ,muchless watch some guy old enough to be their dad jamming some rock tunes recorded prior to their birth. and do you at whatever age it is,wanna hang/bang with a young rowdy drinking crowd in a club ? we all do it from time to time of course... but when that crowd starts shouting for green day, nickelback,or tool..... and youre bringing, sabbath, thin lizzy or bad company ,billy idol, cheap trick or whomever it is you do... its time to redefine where and what it is that your doing. I may be looking at this from a players point of view rather than from a hobbyists, and am not saying hang up your guns and start chicken pickin or moaning the blues... though not a damn thing wrong with that at all !!! but there is definately a difference between keeping the home fires burning for the music you grew up with/love, and becoming a sad parody of your past playing it out.
  22. as long as a band is still believable and as long as tickets sell, why not go on playing. there are bands that I look forward to seeing every year because they are just that. however there are some bands that I would love to have seen back in the day, that still tour today, but have become for lack of a better term "long in the tooth and a sad parody of themselves". I feel bad for them and simply dont go to those shows hoping they finally hang it up...
