I thought I had gotten the correct one, but I guess not. It is for a 1987 Ibanez and the nut I ordered was the right width, but I guess they have differing heights, too? I don't know...... Gonna go to the craft store and buy a strip of brass in the right thickness and then use these thin shims to dial it in. I could never figure out why the guitar had such a buzzy skinny "E" string, then noticed one day that it was apparently a LEFT HANDED Floyd nut. The string had a wide channel to vibrate side-to-side and sounded sitar-like. Who knew?!? Anyone need a black left-handed Floyd nut in 43mm width?
-
Well, I got 6 shims in the packet from Allparts. Installed all 6 and I'm STILL not high enough..........
-
I have a guitar that I replaced the nut on(Floyd) and the new nut allows the strings to deck out on the first fret. I ordered a set of shims and they are in 3 different sizes. Is there a preferred measurement for clearance at the first fret that will make for the best action? It is a fairly flat radius fingerboard if that matters. Thanks. Z

Don't have the skills and imagine it would never look quite right without a refin or throwing too much $$$ at it. -
Looking for the type that mounts to stoptail studs in gold. Looking to fill this hole: Thanks. Z

Yeah, I am frankly shocked and appalled at your conduct here - cluttering up a FS post with this sort of activity! Vultures indeed. The guy hasn't even taken delivery yet and you are all circling and waiting to pick his bones. I for one hope that this guitar has a long and happy life with our dear, esteemed Mitch. Or at least until you all forget about it and stop acting like someone is handing out free candy or something, and you are in danger of not getting any! BTW, is that wraptail beauty Koa-topped?!? Buy these! Now!!

AUstin, TX GC has a black one with case but they want $850 for it........... -
Slash seems to have made the full circle from somewhat humble beginnings, a rise to stardom, dealing with band drama, finding his own voice, and finally arriving at a more humble, introspective place. Any interview I have read or seen reveals a pretty intelligent, soft-spoken dude who has seen a few things and lived to tell the tales. I have always dug his tone and phrasing, but Axl made me want to pull my hair out with his screeching and PAB antics so GnR was always a chore to listen to. I don't see how you can judge a person by merely hearing some tunes, but hey - I guess I'd be judging myself for saying so........ Slash has his place among the greats - maybe not for pure technique or innovation, but he found a voice and made plenty of folks sit up and take notice of what he was doing in a time where he risked being a caricature of a "rock God" with his image and his band. I don't think he gave half a fuck about any of that and I respect what he brought to the table.

Doesn't list a price but looks nice..... http://californiavintageguitarandamp.com/otherpages/other_1873.htm

Haha thanks, you are not the first one to ask, a friend wants to buy it for years, but It's my only guitar and I never tried a better one, so I'm keeping it ! Very nice guitar!!! SVL-The holoskull holograms can get "frosted" over with time as the finish over the hologram had a bad reaction. Peter Exactly, Peter explained better than me, I can take some pictures of the holograms if you want. I think the markers are the same as on other Centauras, the guitar must have been custom ordered by someone, I bought it used but in very good shape in 2001 for 900 CHF ( about 600 USD at the time ), I think it was a good deal! Yeah, you did ok on that deal.............

Looks like the usual fretboard markers for a Cent....

PSA: '82 Special @ Willie's
carfish7 replied to carfish7's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
Funny thing is they had a similar Special but in worse shape for $1300 for a spell - it's gone. Also, they have been trying to sell a very nice Superpro for about a year @ like $2250 - gone! Either they came down on the price or finally found someone to pony up. I used to work there and will say that Nate is a very fine gentleman who REALLY knows his stuff, but they seem to have changed recently. They used to be a Hamer dealer back in the day, and know a fair mount about them, but tend to be all over the map with their used prices. I was set to buy a used '81 Special there last year that had just come out - tagged at $899 and it was VERY nice. I remember telling them that I had been looking for a clean original Special and they were somewhat hard to find in that shape. Went home, called back and asked about layaway, and was told the price was now $1200! I probably should have kept the old pie-hole shut.......... Have been back only a couple times since. -
PSA: '82 Special @ Willie's
carfish7 replied to carfish7's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
...understatement of the year. But it's WILLIES!!!!! Do you not understand the fact that this is a VINTAGE guitar store? With pictures of famous people on the walls? And stuff?!? -
http://www.williesguitars.com/index.cfm/home/1/newlisting/8/image/3 I played this one yesterday and it was pretty nice. Had that unmistakable "ring" to it. Might be a tad overpriced, but hey - it's Willie's. Why do some of these end up with the dark border around the edges where the veneer meets the body? Makes it look bound but it is not.

Site sloooow to load/timing out. Anybody else?

Yup. Slow going for sure. Ted is likely too busy fondling his 4-digit to resolve the issue though............. -
Shiner Bock. That is all.

Your Opinions Please
carfish7 replied to ptm1diver's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
Agreed with the above - you might wait a looooong time to find another like it, and who knows how much it will be going for? Only you and your desire for this model can judge what the "right" price is. -
The solo on Steve Perry's "Oh SherrIe"? Oh, wait..........
-
I think it might be MIDI for you then, but wiser minds will point you in the right direction if such a system exists. You want to do 3 things at once it seems. Stepping on 2 buttons right next to each other is fairly easily executed with some practice - right OR left-foot engaged.................
-
Radial Loopbone would do that I think, but would require stepping on 2 buttons at once (conveniently they are right next t each other). Edited to add that I use mine to switch channels on my Boogie and go either with or without TS10 on the "clean" side by doing what I said above - step on 2 simultaneously - or not.
