+1 on the Yammies! I recently scored a RGX603A with active single-coils and a mid-boost. Kicks all kinds of arse it does. $110 from a local. Also have a SE612 that is MIJ and it is seriously sweet for $150. BTW, you can get most of those trem bits from Frets On The Net - not cheap, but they are available. Have you figured out the little thumbwheel on the bass side of the trem yet? Cool little bit there for sure!

From the interwebs: G&L uses two brands of tuners. One is a G&L logo tuner which is made by Schaller. If you have the G&L logo the Schaller in line locking tuners available from StewMac are a direct drop in. If you have Sperzels (labeled as such), Sperzel locking tuners will be a direct drop in. Now lets get to the Tributes. I am not aware of any direct drop in locking tuners. These are different and will most likely require drilling no matter what brand you buy. This is no problem if you are a proficient, precise driller. Hope this helps. If you need, I could come up with the part numbers but don't have them at my keyboard.-- Darwin Edit: Here are the appropriate part numbers from the boxes. Schallers are 2000P locking Mach Heads and the Sperzels are TK 7467-010 Sperzel Locking Tuners 6L Chrome.

Frozen Jam at the 4-3-2-1 Club, Saturday, January 19
carfish7 replied to BruceM's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I had a swell time too, even though I aggravated my tennis elbow from all the playing. Or maybe it was from WATCHING tennis....... Thanks to Bruce and all the gang for making my bro feel welcome, too. He said it was excruciating and blissful all at the same time. I think a certain redhead caught his attention, and I was happy to see Mr Weston back in the rotation. We certainly had a shortage of singers, but more than made up for it in long blues jams I guess. Thanks for leading us down that funky path, Bill. You guys are the BEST! -
Frozen Jam at the 4-3-2-1 Club, Saturday, January 19

Frozen Jam you say? "Scattered snow showers before 7pm, then a chance for flurries before ending. Mostly cloudy, with a low around -4. Wind chill values between -9 and -19. Windy, with a west northwest wind 21 to 31 mph decreasing to 11 to 21 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%." That wind nearly knocked me to the ground, and I am a sturdy mofo to say the least. Bundle up! -
Here is mine in the grubby mitts of "The Jaffer" at HFC 10. I bought it at Knut Koupee' in Minneapolis in about 1989, sold it to my bandmate The Heej in the mid 90', and he passed it to Jaffer shortly after that. I still get visitation so that is cool Also cool is the fact that it was once part of Andre Cymone's arsenal and still carries some cool cartage and ID stickers on the case from tours and sessions. Love me some first-gen Cruise.....

2013 "Buy No Guitars" Challenge - **WINNERS ANNOUNCED**
carfish7 replied to Feynman's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
This could be a welcome challenge, especially as I am seriously jonesing right now for 2 things in particular to round out the sonic palette and just started a full-time job. I would need a ruling, though, and have heard similiar rumblings without a clarification, so riddle me these please; What if a contestant finishes an existing pile-o-caster build or otherwise assembles a complete guitar from an existing project inventory? The guitar has been in the possession of said contestant but is now merely "whole" again...... or, as in the case of Jem and others, What if one hews a guitar from the wood itself? A complete fabrication move from the ground-up? In my case I have a couple neck blanks glued up and a mahogany body blank glued to hopefully become an 8-string bass in 2013. Am I out then if I roll my own and not intended sale? And finally, gifts? What if Ted finally just admits the poopy-yellowgreen P-90 Special is destined to be with me forever or my wife gets the hint about the Superpro and goes off and does something awesome? Good luck to all. I sense a very good hunting season if modestly priced musical instruments are your game. -
Come on Brent are we ashamed?
carfish7 replied to bubs_42's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
I really like that chick in your avatar, Brent. Something about her that really draws the attention. There is a member here who has purchased a couple guitars from me and flipped them, even going so far as to list them HERE at a much higher price than I had them listed HERE for. Gave me all the BS about how much he was digging the guitar, been looking for one of these. Whatever. I got my asking, he made some bucks off me. Good for him. I like to employ the "pass on my good fortune" model, too, but not to flippers. That's the last guitar he gets from me. Cynic, how much would you want for that 4-digit you got for cheap since you are into "hooking a brother up"? Edited to add that I think it was a bit lame for Bubs to post this here - the intent was to shame and look what we have as a result. -
No More Hamer, Ever

Triumph isn't the same Triumph as the original company. It's better! -
I think this is a fail from the start, unless the idea is to simply keep the name alive, which I realize you stated was preferable to no Hamer at all. Schecter is doing this currently, and still making USA stuff on a CO basis, but is of course making their margins on the Korean stuff and cheaper SGR bits.. Murkat had a great idea with rough CNC work being outsourced to a USA vendor, along with finishing. Move it overseas and it just becomes a hhollow shell IMHO. I agree that you need at least SOME of the key people that made Hamer it what it is on board, and that would be the guys laying hands on wood and the customer support folks. Kim Keller STILL rocks in this department as evidenced by the package i got in the mail today.

Never too late to learn about...

"Fury" is another gem. I did discover that his peeps are pretty good at keeping his stuff off YouTube though............... -
Well, it was fun....... but it's over.

Overrated?!? As compared to what or whom? I don't think he gets ENOUGH credit really as a musician since most folks seem to focus on the man himself and his image and words, but he can definately play...... I have been digging "Musicology" lately although it isn't really " rock" focused per se. Find "Cinnamon Girl" or " A Million Days" off that one for the best rocking posture. In fact, hop on over to YouTube now and give a listen if you have a minute - see if you hear the Metal in the latter. Th real magic is in the live show, too, just in case you ever get the chance. Lots of guitar playing in that experience to be sure. -
Custom Order Arrival-Cue Theme From Jaws

8- string is totally the way to go and I have never seen a cooler manifestation of the breed. Outstanding! -
Looks like Power Block FTW. I can see the wisdom in using the same everything while swapping the power section as that is what would likely die anyway. Thanks for all the replies - now to get the gig!

So, I may be joining the ranks of the gigging musicians again after a long layoff and have been pondering how best to gear up. The Hamers are a given, but I need a backup plan in case my amp takes a dump on me mid-show. I do have a little Laney LC15 1x10 combo that I lOVE the sound of, but have to think that some sort of floor processor might do the trick and save abuse to the Laney. I do have a TC Nova System that has a speaker sim program but have never tried it through a full-range setup. Maybe that would suffice? I have to think something that is also geared towards direct recording would offer better tones into a full-range setup though. POD? Laptop running Guitar Rig? I have played gigs with guys using those Vox Tonelab rigs and they seem to sound damn good straight into the P.A. too, but they are kinda big....... It will take all I can summon strength-wise to tote "The Beast" (Mesa Heartbreaker combo) around to shows, so the smaller and lighter the better. Cheap is good, too. Thanks!

Longer scale length is part of that party too........... Come over to the bright side!

Need picks!

Too bad it is attached to that Steinberger.........

More about the note attack and sustain than the tone really - that is where the Floyd seems to be a compromise.
