A buddy just sent me this picture:

IMG_8328.jpg

I know nothing about Jacksons other than 2 minutes worth of Google searching and what he told me (it is a USA model).

Anybody got the lowdown on these?

Thanks!

Looks like an RR1T, though if this was built pre-fender, they may have all been RR1s with Floyds or not. Serial number at the end of the fret board can tell you when it was built. I think it is likely pre-Fender because I think they only made that Lighting Graphic from the late 80s through the late 90s.

Usually a JB in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck. I've wanted a USA RR1 forever, but they are just too damn expensive now, so I settled for an MJ series RRT. At least the new MJ series feels more like a USA Jackson than the older MIJ RR5s. I owned one of those too, and while nice, the fit and finish on mine is more like my USA Jackson. But I digress.

That's probably a factory air brush job, and a rarer one. If the ends aren't chipped up, it's probably worth well north of $2500, though it is hard to tell how much of what is getting asked for it is translating to getting. I see $4k a lot on Reverb.

My friend plays this lightning sky model with Floyd Rose. It is a RR1 if there is "Made in U.S.A." under the "Jackson" on the headstock. Serial should start with O or U.

Currently the guitar I have owned for the longest time.  I bought this new.  1996 Roswell Rhoads custom shop cut out of billet aluminum. It is hollow / machined out so doesn't weigh a ton, but on the heavy side.  It sounds like.......an electric guitar.
