BTMN Posted May 4 Posted May 4 (edited) Otherwise known as Cheap Trick, came to town. Fun show. Life is Hell getting old. Rick is showing it. They sounded great after about the third song. Edited to note that it took until the third song to sound good cause the mix sounded crappy for 2 1/2 of those songs. Not poor ol’ Ricky’s fault. 😆🫣🤔 Edited May 4 by BTMN 17 1 Quote

bubs_42 Posted May 11 Posted May 11 I still think that the Sgt Pepper Monaco is one of his best sounding guitars. New Album this year! 2 Quote
BadgerDave Posted May 11 Posted May 11 I wonder why they don't have a show booked at the Rockford Hard Rock Casino. It's got a giant reproduction of Rick's Checkerboard Hamer Standard in the parking lot and many of his iconic guitars on dispay inside. I saw Joan Jett in the showcase theater and the sound was excellent, as was Joan and the current version of the Blackhearts. 1 Quote
diablo175 Posted May 11 Posted May 11 My guess is Rick did not have 3 guitars slung over him at some point nor sport his 5 neck guitar? Yeah, getting old is not for the weak or timid. It pretty much sucks. Quote

bubs_42 Posted May 11 Posted May 11 That’s Robin’s Kid. He has subbed for every member but Robin. The last time I witnessed the band live two years ago, Rick was the one showing his age the most. Robin still sounded great, Tom looked surprisingly fresh and upbeat. Still my favorite band and strangely enough I listen to the last four or five albums all the time. My 12 y/o Daughter loves the band, and I was stoked to have taken her with me to the last show. 2 Quote

I just remember saying a year or so back that there was another guitar player picking up the slack for Rick because all he did was mug to the fans and throw picks, and everyone got on my case saying that I was making it up. I have to admit I winched a little bit at how Rick has lost some of his ease of mobility first few songs. Still think he gave it his all. RTZ seemed to be playing Robin and some of Rick’s riffs during songs and RTZ definitely was backing his dad vocally some. Him singing Cry, Cry was really good. I enjoyed the show and appreciate them still bringing it to town. Edited May 11 by BTMN 2 Quote

I want to remember my "heroes" as I knew them as a kid. I like to remember my life as a young and virile man. It's sad how frail my parents got in the end. I'm afraid I'll end up the same, and becoming the same moment by moment now. I don't want to see my heroes do the same. It's great they are enjoying themselves. But at the same time, they ain't doing me any favors reminding me what's to come. Or what has become of them. But what's most cool to me is Zander's son onstage with his Pops. 1 Quote
