Question

Posted

HI

Was lucky enough to recently acquire an early 1980 Sunburst. On reception I was suprised to see that the board was ebony (and not rosewood as mentioned in the seller's description) with the crown inlays. I'm guessing it was a custom order? Can anybody confirm? I can find ZERO infos on it. Are there any other examples out there? Thanks!

Yep - sure looks like ebony.

What about the rest of the guitar?

I know right?.. It's like showing a partial of a side boob... let's see the whole enchilada! 🤣

I've not seen a USA Hamer (early or otherwise) with a three-screw truss rod cover before.  Not unless somebody modified it, anyway.

It's odd, but I've seen a couple.  There was a thread about here a while back.

I still need to see under there, though.

Looks like the 3-screw was necessary, as the trussrod access hole was routed all the way to the nut slot.
