Given the plethora of sub-genres of "heavy metal" rock music, it's probably difficult for guitarists to build their own (sonic) identity--tone, riffs, etc.

Campbell played guitar in Motorhead longer than anyone else. 'Nuff said.

I spoke to Phil a couple times.  Very nice guy… and super cool that he formed a band with his kids.

There is some really good stuff in that mid period Motörhead.     Killed By Death, Dr Rock, Rock N Roll, Ramones… for all the noise. Lemmy could write… glad he got a few bucks for mama I’m comin home.

I only saw Motörhead once, but it was with the Phil/Würzel lineup which I actually liked.  Years later I named my cat Würzel.  I know the band wasn't ever loaded with virtuosos but I still like them for being what they are (were).  RIP to Phil.
