Beergoblin Posted May 8, 2006 Author Posted May 8, 2006 Oh MY!!!! I love this poage.http://willcuttguitars.com/brandsubentries...did=30&subid=98 Me too, they've got more eyecandy if you click on the sold link.
kizanski Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 The way I see it (and this sort of echos Serial's point above), if you're going to order one, get Korina - no doubt about it. If you want a mahogany Standard or a Standard Custom, buy one used. There are plenty of used ones around in great condition, and they do not hold thier value very well. Certainly not as well as the Korinas. Korina all the way, baby!
SirDouglas Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 i love da standards... this one... weighs more than this one (1 of 2 1 peice done a few years ago) by less than 1 pound.....the othern is mahog... so yes the wood weight may vary ... nature is funny.... Randy
Beergoblin Posted May 9, 2006 Author Posted May 9, 2006 Did you get that through Willcutts? They have a very similar guitar in their sold sectionhttp://www.willcuttguitars.com/details.asp?stock_id=3304

That's the same guitar. Actually, when I saw the pic from the Willcutt I didn't like the finish the way it appeared, but seeing a more real to life picture that finish looks very nice.
Beergoblin Posted May 9, 2006 Author Posted May 9, 2006 Looks cool, what the story with the pickups? Are they totally custom?
Steve Haynie Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 If you get a chance to try out a variety of Standards, go with the one that you like to play the most. You do not see the maple top while you are playing. If the korina hits you, then buy it. If the mahogany body with the maple veneer makes you happy, then get it.
Punkavenger Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Have you thought about the gold hardware?I could never deal with that personally. That black standard is amazing ... And your 79, BTMN ... I'm in love!(trade for an archtop GT?)If I could chose I'd go Korina one piece, natural finish, no pickguard, dots, chrome hardware, and a SD custom, custom custom combo
BTMN Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 "And your 79, BTMN ... I'm in love!.....(trade for an archtop GT?)" - Punkavenger Trade a friend I've had in my home for 23 years? Uh, no.
Punkavenger Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 just joking man... I know how you feel ... I wouldn't trade my Blitz for anything and I've only had it for a year!
